HOW TO INSTALL!
First of all before you start messing around. Make a back up of your PanzerCorps/Graphics/Units folder, your the efx.pzdat file in the PanzerCorps/Graphics folder, and the equipment.pzeqp file in the PanzerCorps/Data folder.

Ok so there are two methods for using my icons, the easy one involves going to your PanzerCorps/Graphics/Units folder, seeing which unit icon you'd like to replace with a new one, naming the new one the same as the one being replaced, and then copying it over into the /Units folder.

The second method involves creating an entirely new unit, and the easy way of that requires for PanzerCorps, [link=http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2879489]Mgarnett's Editor[/link] for PanzerCorps,(use 0.2.7 version or newer). First download that, no install is required, just extract the folder with Winrar or whatever, and run it out of the folder. Once its running, click open at the bottom and select your equipment.pzeqp file, and then with the second dialog box your /Units folder. The easy way to make a new unit is to select a unit type close to you one you want to make and click the "Add Unit" button which will append a new unit entry to the bottom of your equipment.pzeqp file. For example say you want to add the Abrams tank to Germany. Highlight the Tiger II, click add unit, and now at the end of the list there is another Tiger II. (Don't forget to save when done, and make liberal use of the commit button too, its like a confirm change? button.) Ok so now that you have cloned whatever unit you desired, navigate the list to it, change its name to what is desired, in this case Abrams. Alter its stats to something appropriate, ie much faster and farther range, avail. dates, and cost etc. (don't forget to commit and save). BTW, if you want to use my icons and keep the stock unit icons too just rename the icons you downloaded, copy them into the PanzerCorps/Graphics/Units file. Now for your new unit, in the bottom right of the editor, either type in the name of the new icon, in this case abrams.png or browse to it by clicking the "..." button and voila (again don't forget to commit and save).

To add sound and stuff, edit the efx.pzdat with the same editor. Simply clone an entry of something similar by highlighting that which you wish to dupe and then clicking "Add Entry" For an Abrams I'd clone the Tiger II entry again, the sounds are appropriate. In the Icon Name box simply type in abrams.png in place of what you are replacing, hit commit, save and it should work. Bear in mind that unit names must match the name of the icon.png itself.... capitalization makes a difference there for some reason. And if for whatever reason something goes wonky and crashes the game, you have your back-ups made and you can undo your changes and try again.

Hope this helps!

One final warning, it is possible to save the equipment.pzeqp file over the efx.pzdat file or vice versa... be careful, pay attention, and remember your back-ups if you mess up!

Please, couldn't you make a package of all your units? And if you intend to add more you could use this thread.
I'll add this thread to the stick mod thread.
By the way, jolly good job.

Very cool. While I agree a package might be nice, I sort of like being able to pick and choose right here and now.

zombiehunter1977, Po-2 could not be called "kukuruznik" during WWII (the name "stuck" after the 50s). During the war he was called the U-2 "utoсhka" ("duck" on russian), the Germans called it "kafemyulle" ("coffee mill") or "naltsnähmaschine" ("sewing machine"). "Po-2" it was called from 1944.

Yes, I must not forget in my scenario to change "Po-2" to the "U-2" ;)

Excellent, just what I had in mind.
If you find the time, maybe you could do the Grenadiers as well?
Thanks in any case.

Sorry but I'm just not that good of an artist! Basically I just open an image from the PanzerCorps/UI/bigunits folder, delete whatever it is, copy one of the icons from the new unit.png, paste onto the blank canvas created by the deleting and then save as in that folder. Make sure to Save As, NOT SAVE! In fact, before anyone does this, just back up the whole PanzerCorps/UI/bigunits folder just to be safe!

I will probably make your aircraft for you, they are pretty easy if a little time consuming. Thank you for posting links with the images, that helps. For the tankettes, no promises... those things are damned small and hard to work with so lets leave it at "we'll see."

Hey, thanks for those Grenadiers Zombiehunter. Nice job.

While we're at it ... I was wondering if you could give me some tips?

I was trying to create a few unit icons myself, for planes of the SCW era.
However, they always end up looking wrong, no matter which angle I choose.
For example, take a look at this plane, which is supposed to be a Spanish CR.32:

Image

It's a slighty tilted side view ... but I somehow cannot get the wings to come out the way they come out in the original sprites. What am I doing wrong here?

I'd say 2 things, one the perspective is wrong, ie the tail (on the one on the right) is seen slightly from the left... that and the shading. The bottom most wing should be darker... slightly. Looks great though!

Well, that's what I meant zombiehunter, no matter which perspective I chose, it always ends up looking totally wrong.
I start with a side-view and then try to just bank the plane a bit, like I did when creating the T-28.
But with planes (I dabbled with a number of others), and especially biplanes, it's impossible for me to get it show up like PC's models.
To get the wings remotely matching those of the of PC's original models, I have to rotate the wing's tail way to the left, which makes it totally look out of perspective.
But if I try to keep the tail matching that of the PC originals, the wings always end up looking something like in that icon above.

I'll try to play around with it some more - thanks for being polite enough not to say it looks entirely horrible. :)

Hey, I seem to be making some progress.
At least throwing together this Aero A.101 did only take like five minutes.

Image

Edit: I seem to be totally unable to create shadows, though.
The acute observer will probably notice I just use the stock shadow of the Italian CR.42 over and over again. :?
