Bug or feature?

Is that a bug?
Look at the infantry with strength 4. It was attacked by the tank and it surrendered instead of moving to the other river field.
Bug or feature?
If it is a bug it should be fixed in the next patch.
Thank you for your attention!

I think it's because the unit is on a rail bridge and the only available hex to retreat to is occupied by an artillery. Since the unit has no where to retreat, it had to surrender. That would be my guess, anyways.
*Note: also, this isn't really a tech support issue and possible bugs should probably be addressed in the regular forums. This is supposed to be more for issues like crashes, game not installing, sound problems, etc.

It is strange, though. I just ran a test to see if an infantry unit on a rail bridge can move directly from it to an adjacent river hex and they can. I would have thought they would be able to retreat there, too.

I recognize that part of the map from Kursk. So I loaded up the Kursk map in hotseat, set up the battle as you have in your image, and the HW infantry retreated on to the river hex just fine.

Tested it with no transport, truck, half track, and improved half track. Every time retreat happens as intended. I dunno what else to tell you. Are you using any mods? Maybe the save games will be illuminating somehow, though I have no idea how at the moment.

I use the standard version. I just inserted the historical insignia pack but that should not be the problem.
And i hope that i did not overwrite the save games since i restarted the scenario.
Maybe i can tell more on Monday. If i did overwrite it then you can call me a dumbass and just continue the good work

But i swear it happened the way i told you.

In any case, even if the unit could have retreated, it would have moved next to the 10 strength infantry and probably would have been destroyed. That unit looked to be a "goner" either way.

@ Generalex, where do you download the "historical insignia pack"? Would appreciate a link. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Razz. Just a quick question. Should I drag-and-drop the "equipment.pzeqp" file from the AT & AA patch and over-ride the original file? Should I make a back-up of the original? Thanks in advance.

Backup is always a good idea so i would always make one.
In any case, even if the unit could have retreated, it would have moved next to the 10 strength infantry and probably would have been destroyed. That unit looked to be a "goner" either way.
True thing. But thats not the reason why i post it. I just want to help the dev team to get rid of bugs in the game.
It had already retreated?
No it had not retreated before. And even if id had, isn't it possible to retreat two times. I am not quite sure about that but on monday you hopefully will get a savegame+screenshots.

Savegame incoming...
I did overwrite the first savegame but was luckily able to reproduce that thing again. So maybe a look at the savegame can help you.
I am too lazy to make more screenshots so everybody who wants to see it just load the savegame and press on next turn.

Is everybody on holidays or what?
No response at all ^^
Or is the analysis of the bug taking so long?
