Hello again,

A new scenario featuring the entire Caucasus region. It is mid 1942 and the German High Command has put you in charge of a bold adventure to secure the Caucasus all the way to Baku.

In this scenario the German High Command has portioned a large amount of resources for you to use a full Air Assault Corps to drop behind Soviet lines and secure an airbase so that further reinforcements can arrive to assist you in claiming the entire region. Priority should be given to securing an airfield with fuel stocks so that your support fighters and bombers will not have to be ditched. This is a one way trip!

Note: This scenario is an attempt to simulate opening a front with airborne assets only. I thought it would be interesting to try to envision a campaign with airborne forces and light tanks/artillery so keep in mind all things may not be historically or practically feasable which occur here.

Do explain, I've tested it 3 times.

Heres the spoiler then.

Parachutists must be landed at grozny airbase to secure airbase. (and save your fighters/bombers)
3 Parachutists must take nearest victory hex port south of grozny(kick the ships out) immediately get air corps airborne again to take sevastapol. (Avoid landing next to pill-boxes)
The reason you want this port is so you can move your newly purchased ground forces to support taking sevastapol on naval transport.

As soon as you capture Grozny airbase you get a huge prestige bonus which will allow you to purchase armor and necessary units to advance south quickly to Baku.

I've managed to get with 10 hexes of Baku at turn 50 :P So what if i make em hard.

Why make a map I can beat? lol

https://rapidshare.com/files/94951561/C ... cn-airbase flagged and german prestige per turn included. My intention of leaving it out was to only allow prestige to be alloted once the air assault team had completed objectives in securing airbase. Specifically Grozny
What was your findings?

Ok so i accidently unflagged the central airbase. I also admit the Germans could use more prestige per turn.

You can control prestige.

If you tested the map, you would have known that it does not have any victory conditions.

Capture 5 objectives in Italy????

Yeah, where do you change that? I filled it all in on Underbelly one but can't find it back for this one.

You "played" it huh?

I did test it several more times with cheat codes to help now the victory is indeed broken
If i set it for axis having less then one it will end on the first turn since the scenario has axis not controlling any.

Say Razz1, is it your job as a Mod in this forum to frustrate everyone who starts to contribute something to this community? Never seen such a behaviour of a Mod in any other forum...

well, Razz is just right.... offerring (not even tested) maps doesnt contribute to anything. Especially with the possibility to generate tiles automatically (and even create the terrain form pictures) there is more to be done then clicking somethin together within 5 minutes. Well, you could possibly create a skribt to produce maps in about the same quality as many of the custom maps have.

Reminding people, that doing a good map, is very much work, and that testing is an essential point, is not only the right, but the duty of mods. If one feels frustrated because he wasn't able to test his own map (at last test his own map himselfe), well there is not much contribution to be seen - in my eyes.

Best regards

Ranta

Why are you guys always so hostile?
I agree that some testing is prefferable, especially if it's only a single map (I freely admit I haven't thoroughly tested my 38 map campaign), but if it something is broken, so what, report the issue and wait for the fixed release.
It's not like you paid or something...

I'd be in favor of agreeing on some designation for such maps, though.
[ALPHA] or [WIP] or whatever, to make sure people that expect finished contend aren't disappointed.

I can only confirm that rezaf. I have never seen an amount of hostility as in this forum. I spent not five minutes but 3-4 days on my seven-map-campaign and yes, it had some issues. BUT I wrote it clear in the post thats the first time for me to try something like that. What happens? Looking - seeing that its not perfect work - trolling... I'm outa here

You don't like them don't download them.

Anyhow heres a link to the fixed victory conditions. https://rapidshare.com/files/2562131455/Caucasus.pzscn

I had edited the Axis and Allied victories and had inadvertantly used axis twice.
Still can't figure out how to get the Italian campaign stuff out.

Maybe if the editor was tested.... BTW what does the options in the drop down menu do? -nothing...

You need to create a Caucasus.pzloc that contains the correct strings. You copy, rename and then modify an existing pzloc to suit your purposes.

Hey thanks! I'll work with that.

Didn't see any reference to that in the manual. How did I get help on this? Posting the scenario AMazin! isnt it? Isn't that what this is for?

Now the rest of you perfect scenario elitist can go suck an 88.

Gentleman! Lets finished with all the aggressiveness... please.

I'm sure all what Razz meant is that the user should restrain of publishing maps until they are fully tested. Otherwise we'll end up having a ton of maps with no quality and lowering that way the average. This way we can end up having the good maps lost in a sea of bad ones. It's a fair point
However there's no official policy for now.
If that matters, my personal opinion is that everyone who wants to contribute should contribute. I do believe that, at least some of us, can learn with their mistakes. And these threads can be good places for learning, if the critic wants to be constructive and the "apprentice" wants to learn.

Sorry VPaulus,

But I don't buy what your saying here.

I don't see a flood of maps overwhelming everyone because there is no map hosting service here and we can relate maps to specific authors. If mine are untested crap maps then just skip anything under my name. There are other scenarios here that i've used which had some minor glitches I could have been a bitch about in the forums but still had fun with them. Other scenarios require me to DL a DL service software, those I skip because my comp is loaded already.

No official policy for now? Well as soon as there becomes one I'll send my paypal info.

The intention of this Caucasus map was an attempt to think outside the box with operations in WW2. I had hoped to glean some help from others with the concept.

By not having an official policy I meant that Razz as a moderator is entitled to his opinion and I to mine. We don't have to agree in all. If there was an official policy, that could be different, as being moderators.

Never said that your map was crap. I really don't know and don't care. If it's, I hope you hear enough good constructive criticism from the other players and improve this map.
And personally sincerely hope that you continue to do maps and share them with us.

Guys, I think as a moderator, when any criticism happened to you, the best thing is to improve your Mod and make it better.
That is the best gift for the people give constructive criticism, also the best counterattack to someone who criticizing without any reason.

I know some criticism doesn't sounds nice to any of us. I just suggest any one here, if a criticism is made, at least you need to show your reason. Then for the moderators, no matter happy with it or not, can understand the criticism. And I think that's the bottom line.

Also, I wish all the moderators won't be disappointed by any comments here. If you really did a good work, I believe 90% of the people here will appreciate what you did. Please believe your self.
