The Underbelly

It is January 1943 in this hypothetical battlefront. Africa is dominated by the Allies and now we can make a bold push up the "soft" underbelly of Europe. This scenario is a broad map of southern france, adriatic seaboard, sicily and italy. The going is tough because Allied resources are not quite in place for an offensive but with you in charge an early push into Italy will reap massive benefits in preventing the Germans from fully occupying the "boot".

Thanks for the feedback
I ran a number of tests playing both sides and found that as allied side it was tough fighting at first but then got much easier. The AI used air assets quite well in colonel mode. All units have default AI perhaps I need to tweak that to have some defend active some attack etc.
For some reason i had forgotten about the inset boundary on the map and landlocked the adriatic sea I will fix this as well.
edit: Here is link for the updated map

Gonna play it again tonight. First quick impressions:
- Allies need at least one or two experienced fighters, preferably Spitfires. Lost my entire airforce in short order to far superior German fighters. Will try another strategy tonight. No fun having such a weak airforce.
- There are a few units on the far left bottom edge of the map that you cannot see unless you go to the strategic map. It`s then a matter of mouse-clicking on where you think they are to select them.
- Agree it`s a very nice map, good work.
- AI seems pretty adept so far, moving to attack and delay my forces.
- That small island in the ocean (with cities) seems like it should have an airfield.
Will post when Ive gone through it again.

Thanks for feedback Aleader.
The intention for allied air assets was to present a green airforce in this action. Through testing I did manage to best the german airforce by setting traps with my air assets over transports and purchasing additional fighters 2 turns in.
The units on the far left bottom were suddenly trapped under the map boundaries when i opened up the adriatic on map 2 for some reason. At this point they have not been critical to the overall effort to win the scenario.
I think you mean Corsica for the island with 2 cities. I had intended to make Corsica strategically impotent.
Without much effort the AI seems to do a much better job.
Thanks for the interest.

That strategy hasn't worked for me (setting traps over transports). Do you mean setting traps so that they will attack bombers and Paratroop transports and get intercepted by the fighters? AI goes straight for my fighters every time and wipes them out (usually around 7 or 8 killed to their 0 losses). Bought two new Spitfires just as you said, and they were quickly dispatched as well. Have played through it three times now.
Will play it again and try maybe completely surrounding my fighters with bombers\transports and see if they bite.
I figured the lack of an airfield there was intentional. One of my plays was to send my airforce up that way to get away from the German airforce, and then head back after a few turns, but the AI just sends planes that way and wipes mine out.

I've tested it on Colonel setting and when I had the transports out the italian fighters took a hit being surprised. I whittled at the german fighters with all my others including the new ones and managed to get 1 of em down to 2 and the other about 6 then they took off for bases and stayed away til I was near Rome. (weather also kept em at bay)
One tip is to use the US landing Forces either completely north(france) or at naples. It helped get me to the northern victory hexes faster.
I scored 2 victories on earlier version, still trying on this one

I played Axis site on FM and it was rather easy to win. But I played with the version you didnt patch up. So you should update your first post and replace it with the right version.
I think the map is too big, maybe you could split it up into several smaller ones. So the units moving doesnt take forever.
