Hi,
ffdshow come from a pack of video and audio codecs that you've installed in your Windows, like K-Lite for example, to watch some videos and hear music that come from the internet.
Since you've installed that pack, your system is using the ffdshow to decode some of the video and audio formats.
In the case of Panzer Corps, it's the intro video and the audio sounds which are calling your system a way to play them. Only your system is configured to use ffdshow in these cases.
As long you've the video playing and are hearing all the sounds in the game, I wouldn't mind. A lot of Windows users install those codecs, so as long as they aren't conflicting with their system or they aren't broken, it's all right.

I hope you now understand that it was not Panzer Corps who have add ffdshow to your system. Panzer Corps is just using your system the way you configured it.

Thanks;

That makes things clear.

FFDShow was indeed installed when I installed my Taxc trainer software. (For indoor cycling training)

Some years ago I was using codec packs (I believe it was K-Lite), and I had tons of compatibility troubles, not to mention all those unnecessary files installed.
So a tip for the future just to avoid any trouble:
- If all you want is to watch movies, you can use VLC player (it has its own codecs)
- If you want to use your favorite media player and need to install codecs, these should be enough: ac3 filter (audio decoding) and Xvid or DivX (I prefer Xvid) for video decoding.
