Why do people bail on MP games?

I am a latecomer to BA. Overall I think the game is great, but one of the most appealing aspects to games, for me, is having multiplayer/pbem. With BA, I have never had so many people start games, and then walk away from them after only one or two turns. Right now, out of 8 games I started, only one remains active, the others have not responded for many days now. Can anyone shed any light on why this happens so often in BA?

I think you might have just been unlucky with that run. Perhaps you are too good and they feel defeated after 2 turns! ;) But seriously, it's not something that we have had a lot of feedback on - but I wonder what others comments are?

Cheers

:lol: I wish that it were the case, that my skill was so intimidating. Afraid not though; the one game I have completed, and the one I am just about to complete, are both going to go in the "lost" column for me.

I am late too to BA, but I am always looking for a game to play.

OK, I will do that.

Bailing on games

I would have to say in general that out of the 20 MP games I run at a given time, that maybe like 2-3 were pretty clearly abandoned or forgotten by my opponent, and with the feature added by Slitherine, I can delete the game in 30 days. But many times it really is just circumstantial, and overall my opponents will atleast tell me. One person I played was recovering from a stay in a hospital, another will be gone for three weeks on vacation, and a couple guys told me they will be away on a business related trip. I never take it personally unless they are bailing on games just because they are losing. I tend to fight it out to the end. But yeah, in defense of most of the MP players, it really is just circumstance. Thats the beauty of a turn based PBEM style game though, its flexible like that. Oh and another thing. If your opponent tends to be relatively quick about sending turns back but you guys arent really on at the exact time, ive found time zones do play a role there. Its what I also like about the game tho, Ive played fellow Americans, a canadian, a brit, a german, an australian, a french man, its kinda neat.

@Happycat:

I also think you might have been unlucky with these guys. Most of my opponents told me in advance, if they can`t answer the turn so soon. And, since you are waiting only for a few days ;-), maybe it`s not too late and they still will show up.

It could also be the reason of the summer months that people avoid their PC...

If you want to spank me, feel free to open up a match and send me the password, but I have to warn you, I will stay until the last halftrack is gone... :-)

I would be happy to play a game with you. I will PM you a password, and will start the "Winter Village" scenario as our first game if that's ok by you.

Partly also due to the "PBEM" email is still being lost somewhere along the line, I haven't played by email in a good few months, for some reason they have stopped working! None for PC either...I just check my games every night where possible to see if any turns taken.

Also, everyone is playing panzer corps....

We believe we have fixed all the PBEM email notification issues - if you still aren't getting them, and you have checked your spam folder, and have it enabled on your My Page, then please let us know.

You can also use the PBEM++ Helper tray tool to track your turns - the new version supports all our games, including BA and PC.

Cheers

Hi Pip - I thought it was fixed some time ago, and I actually received about 4 or so emails, but they immediately stopped again within a day or so...been mostly using the tray tool though. Will let you know again in future ;)
