Game Crashes On My Scenario

Need help with something I messed up with on a scenario I’m making and the game is crashing on me – (possible because of this). I know exactly what I did, but not sure of the best way to undo it.
I went in to: Edit – Map Strings – selected “Deep Sea” – and meant to push “Edit” but clicked on “Delete” instead. And then (my input for a mod to the game here) since there isn’t a “are you sure you want to delete” screen – it just deleted it.
I then thought that I should add it back in. doing this puts it to the bottom of the list. The result is that now all my Deep Seas say “Shallow Sea”, and my Shallow Seas say “Lake”, etc.
....... Wait there’s more to the story .........
When I try to play my scenario, the game crashes (playing any other scenarios works just fine). I don’t know for sure if the crash is because of the String issue or the fact that while I had my scenario open in edit – I lost power to my computer and it shut down in the middle of editing it… Yeah, it was a bad night last night.

I can't be much helpful here. Maybe Rudankort could.
Both are plausible causes. The second could have corrupted the file, specially if it was accessing the hardisk in the right moment it was powered off.
I know how these things are frustrating. Once I was working on the Commodre Amiga with an illustration that had to be delivered next morning to be published. After spending the whole day and night, creating it with a friend illustrator, the computer power supply just went off at 4 o'clock in the morning, when it was almost finished. The backup diskette was corrupted. You don't imagine the yells that the whole neighbourhood listened at that hour. Probably thought that another loony was doing a sacrificial ritual or something. I've cursed the Murphy name for the whole eternity. Needless to say that we didn't slept that night, but we were able to delivered it to the newspaper, just on time. Good old days.

I feel your pain my friend.
I've been a programmer for about 25 years now and I'm sure you and I could swap these types of stories all day. Too many sleepless nights and long weekends.
I hate to tell you how I loss power… I was working on my laptop with this and I didn’t put the battery in right and it just fell out on me…… funny but embarrassing.

Eheheh. Let me guess, you just wanted to slap yourself in the face.
Don't worry I've similar stories.

Very much so.
That's when I told my one son that he and I were going to the movies. So we went and saw Captain America.
That also is funny... Playing a WWII game as the Germans and then seeing a movie about WWII beating up on the Germans.
..... Well - in my state of mind at the time it was funny - in a sick kind of way.

Any status update on if my work is lost or not?
Thanks

Sorry.
I haven't seen Rudankort here lately. But I'll PM and leave him a message.

Obviously not a top of the list kind of an issue here – but like you and I said before, it can be a bit of an annoyance.

If you look at Validate Scenario, you see there are a large list of errors.
Hit space bar in the editor and you can see where these blank spots are.

No errors found and no blank spots but a lot of warnings about "should have custom string"
That can't be it - can it?

I have created several custom scenarios and I always get a long list of custom string messages.
All affected hexes do have strings so I do not know why the program complains.

Those are just "warnings" so they shouldn't be an issue. I think it is nothing more than a nice way of letting you know that "Paris" might be a better city name than "City".
I think with my issue though it is because my PC loss power in the middle of editing the scenario. The file must have been corrupted.
........... Although it would be nice to have an official word on that from one of the devs.

If your PC craps out during a save probably only parts of the map (and other stuff) was saved. The rest of the map is black/empty.

If there is a serious problem with your scenario, the editor should warn you upon saving. If you get a warning, this might explain what is going on. If not, the problem is something else and I would need to look at your file to tell more. Please send it to
rudankort@rsdn.ru, I'll check.

File sent. No errors from the editor - only String Name Warnings.
Thanks.
