[EDIT: The Beta Demo is now closed. Thanks to everyone who gave it a try!]
Got a Mac? Want to check out a Beta of the upcoming demo? Then go ahead! After an exclusive preview of it for our friends over at InsideMacGames, you can now download the current beta version from this link:
http://www.slitherine.com/files/bbc_ba/ ... moBeta.zip
We think we are pretty close to having the demo done, so please let us know what you think of it, both as a demo and as a Mac application

. Feel free to post in this thread, or start your own thread, as you prefer. Any and all feedback is welcome.
It is a single application file, so you can just download and run. The demo includes one specially built demo scenario, completion of which unlocks the complete D-Day scenario from the full game. You can also browse the briefings for all the full game and expansion campaigns and scenarios. Please note that the Mac version of the full game is not yet available to buy - but it is in final Beta right now...
Cheers

Hi,
In trying out the demo, when attacking the first set of scouts the Effectiveness shows "396" and not a percentage (i.e. "39%")

Thanks for checking the demo.
Thats always true when attacking infantry. % are only for armoured attacks and show the kill chance.
For infantry the higher the number the better but its not as simple as a %. The demo gives you a rock hard ranger unit that has much higher stats than a normal unit so in normal gameplay you will never see numbers that high!

The demo is just fantastic. I've not played BA in Windows, but it works just fine on my iMac (Lion installed). Both scenarios are great and I had a good time today when I played them. Will buy the game for sure when it is released.

I had the chance to check out the demo this morning. I didn't have any problems running it on a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iBook with 2 GB of RAM.
The graphics look fantastic and the game play was very fun. I bet multiplayer will be even better. Very good job with the game.
The one suggestion I would make is to put a choice in the options to disable mouse scrolling. I have the Apple magic mouse and it's way too easy to accidentally scroll while clicking on units. It made moving around the screen a little frustrating at times. Perhaps an option to allow us to use the "r" and "f" keys to zoom instead of mouse scrolling?
Looking forward to the final release. This is a must buy!

Can you be more specific. I'm not familiar with the magic mouse operation. Do you mean the left/right/up/down scrolling, or zooming in and out? You can already use the cursor keys up and down to scroll in and out, if that helps. And adding a special tweak for this case would be possible for sure, although it might be an INI file tag you would set. I guess it depends on how common the mice are!

Thanks for the response Pip!
The mouse I'm using is the standard apple mouse. There are no buttons and if you move your finger up or down on the surface of the mouse it functions as a scroll wheel (zooming function in this game.) While it's an economical design on their part, it is too easily triggered and causes the game to either zoom in or out a few notches when I'm just moving the mouse around the screen selecting units.
The main thing that would help would be having a setting in the options to eliminate the mouse scroll wheel functionality.
Here is a web link to see what I'm talking about:
http://www.apple.com/magicmouse/
The gestures are about halfway down the page.
I use the "wasd" keys to move the camera around with my left hand and use the mouse for all the other functions with my right. Having the zoom in/out keys mapped next to the camera scroll (on r and f) would allow a mouse user to easily control the camera with the left hand. Much like having the rotate function on the "q" and "e" keys.
As a gamer coming from playing mostly 1st person shooters and World of Warcraft, having all the main keyboard/camera functions close together on the keyboard is a big help.

Thanks for the detailed response. I will add in those features as you describe. As I say, I might not be able to easily add a 'nice' UI toggle for it, but I can at least make it a tweak that just needs a little text editing to turn on.

The beta demo has been removed because the release of the full demo and game is imminent - so keep your eyes peeled.
