Slitherine

Edward Bruce's army had paused at Xmas before continuing its advance into Kildare. They had been joined by the de Lacy's, former tenants of Roger Mortimer, but their combined forces was unable to capture Kildare castle. As they withdrew from the area they were attacked by a large Anglo-Irish army, led by the Earl of Kildare.
