SE Award Impacted by Core Unit Loss?

In another post Hoook indicated they got an SE after each of the first 3 battles. I've gotten through the first 4, all with decisive victories, and have seen nary a one.
I'd assumed either:
A. The game was well designed and that SEs were very rare which means Hoook had extremely good luck (jerk... I mean good show old chum).
B. SEs were actually very common early on and I had bad luck (which wouldn't make them very special).
Then it occurred to me that in each of these battles I had lost at least one core unit. So my questions are:
1. Did this other this other guy have good luck?
2. Did I just have bad luck?
3. Does losing a core unit during a battle reduce the chance to receive an SE?

The alternative being some character flaw on my part? (I think I know who the jerk is now)
Seriously I am glad to hear these SE's are rare as it will mean so much more when I get my first one (defending Berlin '45 maybe?).

Damn, I am in Seelion 40 and have not seen a single SE unit yet after all those decisives.

My 1st campaign (as seen in Herr Pferdman's Diary) saw me get a SE unit after Poland, Norway and France

I played my last game all the way through, the long way. Sealion 42 -> Italy ->Germany and I scored 2 freaking SE the whole game : )

Yeh but I had to wait ill my 4th scenario to get my third :p
