AAR - GS Mod - vs Computer Delaying the Inevitable II

Based on this AAR - viewtopic.php?p=243672#243672

I'll modify the strategy somewhat.

1. Maximum investment in research, as before, but concentrating on Subs, Armour then Air.

2. Follow the historic schedule of events, conquer Poland, Denmark, Holland, Belgium and France and then consider Sealion. Not following the exact timetable though. This will give more production points that is one of the weaknesses of my original strategy as I quickly ran out of production after invading Russia. Consider taking Spain, the Balkans, Norway etc time and resources permitting.

3. Conservation of oil will be a primary concern so we have a good stockpile of oil and manpower for when Barbarossa occurs - planned for April 1942.

4. Try to build a constant supply of Subs and Fighters to ensure naval and air superiority, while leaving some spare for ground units for the invasion of Russia. I think if you concentrate on Subs early on you might get naval superiority with just 8 sub units or so.

I'll start this one when the other is concluded, a few days.

Ok, off we go!

I'm quite new to the game still so am not changing the default difficulty, note that the game can continue past 1945!

1st September 1939

All 20 PPs go to buy a Naval research lab and focus is on Submarines, I want to get naval superiority quickly using just subs.

Rundstedt will lead the invasion of Poland and is placed with the XIX Panzer Korps - I want to take Poland with as small a force as possible so the other units can quickly be sent to other fronts.

Rundstedt therefore commands.

XIX Panzer Korps, XVI Panzer Korps, II Korps, XXI Korps, XIII Korps, III Panzergrenadier, plus assorted Garrison units and one fighter and one tactical bomber for support.

Typical Poland attack.

Forces moved to the West ready for Denmark and Holland next turn.

Total German Forces:

3 Armoured
2 Mech
11 Korps
2 Fighter
2 Tactical Bomber
3 Subs
1 Battleship

I'm not listing garrisons and other minor units.

11th October 1939

Income: 67 PPs - spent on General lab and Paulus.

Great progress in armour!

I made a mistake and placed my tactical bomber too far to strike Warsaw and so the city held out just - I underestimated the AI that time!

Attack on Holland goes well, we're ready to hit The Hague next and considered attacking Belgium but will wait for the moment.

10th December 1939 - Mud

Production - Submarine

The Hague has fallen!

It's taking longer than anticipated to replenish losses in Poland and so further offensives are not yet ready, but the muddy weather means this isn't a real problem.

30th December 1939 Winter

79 PPs - Submarine ordered

Nothing much happening, restrengthening damaged units, not much spare PPs due to Submarine building programme. I decide to recall Paulus and he will lead the attack on Belgium with Rundstedt - once France is conquered he can go back to Scandinavia depending on the situation.

17th July 1940 - 89 PPs - Fair

Orleans falls - I'll bring the Italians over to help clear France while the best German units move to the Baltic, we'll invade Sweden.

Messe is sent to North Africa, see if the Italians can do something there on their own!

6th August 1940 - 89 PPs - Fair

Rennes, Nice and Lyons fall.

The Allies daren't enter the Atlantic, all their navy is sat in the Channel, worried about Sealion no doubt. I can't contemplate that with such a force so close by, so we wait while my subs chew up a 17 step convoy. That might tempt them out! 7 Subs now, might be enough.

Paulus will remain in France to oversee the occupation while Rundstedt heads to Danzig to prepare the invasion of Sweden.
