What about cheaters ?

Hi, I'm currently playing several PBEM games.
One of those games concerns the Bagration Scenario, and all my IS-2 can even scratch ennemy tanks and even infantery.
My planes were wipe-out by a single air unit. 30 vs 10 => 15 units destroyed for me, an 1 for the ennemy.
I found strange that my opponent had more than 2 or 3 Tiger II (plus several jagdpanther), and so many planes. More on this, I've seen that alls his units are veteran +5 (meaning he can raise his troops to 15)
The worse is that this guy has started the game with a minus 3 malus... So I think this guy is cheating. This is very unfair.
I know that some cheat keys exists, but won't do this... I prefer to refer to Slitherine to check if it's possible to remove the ability to use the cheat key in PEBM.

As far as I know the cheats keys don't work in MP mode, JM.
But I'm not sure if you alter your equipment tables (for example) how the game react in MP.

No cheats do not work. All game data is verified so if you did not get a warning message that your opponents was using modified data files then he can't have modified the prestige.
Combat stats are seeded so you can replay them and they will be the same. The server also monitors suspicious activity.
Overall its pretty hard to cheat!

I trust you, but it's very strange all those units are overstrengh and destroy my IS-2 so easily... (three IS-2 against a single Tiger II => 1 lose for Tiger 2 and almost all my IS-2 were destroyed.
And do you think it's normal that all units are veteran +5 stars ? (approximatively 6 airplanes with 2 M163 included)...
That's quite strange no ?

Ahh - dont forget this is not a balanced scenario. This is one from the normal campaign not a map designed for multiplayer. If you want a balanced map you need to select one of the 10 multiplayer maps.
I dont know the scenario, but it could be modified. If it was you would have been told when accepting the challenge. I'm assuming you are the client? To be sure you're fighting on an even map use the official scenarios. The game data is all included in the savegame which is only on the server, never saved locally so you could not edit it even if you wanted to.
The only way to have unusual data is to host a game with modified setup and then that data gets built in to the save on the server. This is why we put up warnings when accepting modified maps. Most modifications are to add somethign interesting rather than unbalance the scenario so we don't prevent it, just let you know what you are getting in to.
One other thing - did you check the handicap setting. Maybe you are playing at a disadvantage.

I've seen that german has a huge disadvantage, but I'm the russian. Maybe I mistunderstood the malus was for me.
The battle is Bagration. I will not accept a game with a not balanced settings like this.
I will check this again on next turn.

It is best to play the unbalanced scenarios as paried games so you get to see it from both sides.

This is in effect for Multiplayer ? How so ? Player A chooses max easy and B max hard, wouldnt it wash? Would you even know if your opponent had anything set other than default of colonel?

Ok, it seems that I play against someone who set handicap to the max for Russian. So It's merely impossible to win. It's an historical scenario so this is why...

Handicap can only be set by the host - just watch out for it when accepting a challenge.
