History GBM Runs slow

Purchased the game. Loaded it on Vista table top (2000 ram) and Windows 7 laptop. On both, the cursor movement is glacial. Several second delay between moving mouse and the arrow moving on the screen. Game is unplayable in that condition. I tried the lowest graphics mode but no change. Is there any fix, or do I need a more powerful machine?

What are the machine specs?

One thing to check is that the video card control panel settings (usually video card specific ones, so nVidia or ATI branded) don't any settings for something like "buffered frames" etc set to more than 1 or 2. This is usually the reason for the kind of lag you are reporting.

I would also try running in a lower resolution - this can often be a lot more impactful on slower video cards.

Fixed the problem on both the PC and the laptop. I disabled the "shaders," "enable shadows" and the "use reflections" options on the Launcher screen. Any one of them stops the game. What do these do, anyway? The high versus low testure quality does not seem to make much difference on the PC (2 megs ram).

Great game. Fun, gripping and challenging. Thanks for your interest.

Basically the game is prettier with them enabled :). But they would certainly cause slowdown on lower end video cards, such as integrated ones. Glad you are enjoying the game now you have found the slowdown - have fun!
