Help make this anticipated project the ultimate WWI strategy experience – without the trench foot!

Slitherine, Matrix Games, and The Lordz Games Studio are thrilled to announce that Commander – The Great War is now entering beta stage of development and needs testers to “take to the trenches” and help with beta testing!

To apply for the beta, head over to the Slitherine Beta Page and submit your application. Are you a member of the press? Be sure to sign up for the beta as well and then send an email to our press contact with your registration details so you can get preview access to the game.

Take Command and Secure Victory in the War to End All Wars!

At the heart of the conflict, when men fought for every inch of land, only visionary leaders could make the choices that would lead their troops to victory. The remarkable sequence of events that inexorably led to the 'Great War' is written in our history books and pictured in our movies. Now a new turn-based strategy game captures this time of war with unprecedented realism, playability and accuracy. Developed by The Lordz Games Studio, Commander - The Great War is the latest release in the popular Commander series to bring the thrill, excitement and challenging decision-making of these difficult times to life. Gamers can enjoy a huge hex based campaign map that stretches from the USA in the west, Africa and Arabia to the south, Scandinavia to the north and the Urals to the east on a new engine that is more efficient and fully supports widescreen resolutions.

Commander – The Great War features a Grand Campaign covering the whole war from the invasion of Belgium on August 5, 1914 to the Armistice on the 11th of November 1918 in addition to 16 different unit types including Infantry, Cavalry, Armoured Cars and Tanks, Artillery, Railroad Guns and Armoured Trains and more!

For generals looking to test their mettle against other players, Slitherine’s revolutionary play by e-mail system will also bring a whole new level of excitement in Multiplayer battles while simultaneously offering near limitless replayability!

Good Morning, I signed up for the CTGW beta a while back, but have not been contacted. If you need me to do this game as well, I'm in!! I was eying this game, as the "Edwardian period" is of special interest to me.

I just completed beta with PzC (Slitherine) since you wished for experienced beta testers. Still with it, really, I'm hoping for expansions to PzC. . .

Thanks

I just registered and am dying to get into some Beta testing on CTGW. I have been waiting for this game's release since March of 2010. I would love to help get this game released up to the designers standards. I have been playing war simulations since the late 1970s. I cut my teeth on Avalon Hill and SPI boardgames and have designed units charts and scenarios to supplement the games I have purchased. I was a huge fan of SSIs computer offerings in the early 1990s and I must say, the state of PC wargames has declined terribly after SSIs departure. Most games now are unrealistic shooters with great graphics but little basis in reality or chaotic and annoying RTS empire builders. I'm glad there are companies like yours, HP simulations and Battlefront to pick up where SSI left off. I noticed your Panzer Corps game is very similar to SSIs Panzer General series. I used to play those to death. Maybe you guys might even be willing to come up with a naval warfare game to resurrect the GNB series, the only comparable games currently out there is Storm Eagles Jutland and Distant guns, but they're Securom -yucchh- games that are well done but I feel that I'm being robbed because I can't play or install the supid games without being under the watchful eye of SES. That also means no modding or other customizing. I like to own what I pay for. You, Lordz and Matrix are my favorites. Battlefront and HP games get stale pretty quick, due to their cookie cutter design practices. Anyway, I would be thrilled to help.

Hi. I was just wondering, how are you going to choose beta testers. I also signed as beta tester and after Commander - Europe At War, i was dying to get strategy game similar to CEAW. I also want to ask you if there are any special conditions to become beta tester.
Keep Up Good Work!!!

The first group is hand picked around 25, than we add them ad random in chunks between 25-100 during the course of the Beta. At the end of Beta probably a few hundred people should be involved. With Panzer Corps we used around 900 betatesters in the end.

That's a narrow group, I think. But maybe I get lucky :D Nevertheless the most important thing is that CTGW is released 'cause its on my DEMAND LIST :)

Hye,

I've registred to be a beta-tester but received no answer. I'm writing for some french magazines (Pix'n Love, Les Cahiers du Jeu Vidéo, ...), the sites http://www.grospixels.com and http://www.cyberstratege.com. I would talk about the new Commander with pleasure in it. So, is it possible to know when you will open the beta to new testers ?

Thank you

As soon as we are ready to go into Beta, we will make a public announcement, count on that.

At this point we have set no date yet, as usual as soon as possible.

Just today a big and cool internal patch for Commander: The Great War finished, again a step closer to proper Beta!

Still a lot of things to do and polish, but the boys are working hard.
