Another daft question for you about death rolls:

How do you choose which base to remove in these situations:

1. Mixed BGs. Can the player choose which type meets its maker to implement a death roll? E.g., saving his War Wagon for last or allocating casualties to LF instead of the other troops that they are supporting?

2. Large BGs that lose to smaller BGs. Must the player remove casualties from the bases that actually are in combat and/or shooting range? Consider the following large BG vs. small BG:

AAAAAA
AAAAAA
BB
BB

If the B group causes casualties, can the A group remove the bases from the right-hand side and, thus, maintain the fighting strength of the BG because the number of bases in combat remain the same?

1. A base of the type fighting in the front rank must be removed (p70 of the glossary)

2. You should remove an element that is in contact, but can then re-align/expand in the movement phase so that combat strength is maintained (also p70).

Thanks for pointing out the answer.

The rules would be more clear if removal priority also appeared on page 37 with the rest of the Death Roll rules.

Yeah, my personal feeling is that a Glossary should not actually introduce more information than is contained in the main body of the text, but rather just serve as a precis with references.

agree 100%. The glossary (and other appendixes) are ok to support understanding of the text and sometimes provide a different sorting of information. But many difficulties with the ruleset arise from information 'missing' (well for me) in the main text.
