Question about LOS and hills.

Hello everybody!
I have a question about LOS and hills. I thought units on a hill are invisible unless they start shooting.
I just lost a truck on a hill. The truck was shot from below. How could the tank see the truck?
I marked the spot from where the truck was killed. This screen was taken at the end of the turn and the sherman closed in after the kill.

How long had the truck been on that square?

I am not sure. I think it drove there one turn ago?
Why does this matter?

Yes I think it needs to be in place for a full turn before hiding can be in effect. So move turn 1, sit still turn 2, invisible turn 3.

Wow thats complicated. I did not expect that the "hill rules" are so complex.
Nevertheless I'd like to add another question. Please have a look at the following screenshot.
How is it possible, that the Matilda can shoot at the 88mm but not at the Panzer III or IV. It says "out of range" when I try to shoot at them.
And thanks for you help, btw.

Matilda I was only armed with a Vickers machine gun. It can't damage the armour, but can kill the crew of the 88. I guess it allows you to fire at closer ranges to cause suppression? I have noticed that .50 cal machine guns are allowed to fire at armour under certain circumstances.

That sounds like an explanation, thank yiu Amaz_Ed!
Nevertheless there is a firepower of 14 determined against armoured targets. What for if the tank refused to shoot?

A "tip" says: - "Troops on hills cannot be seen unless they fire!"
So what? Is there something about edges of hills?

IDS_LTIP3, "Tip: Troops on top of hills cannot be seen by those below unless they fire"

Dudes? Any comments on this?

Either the unit has to be placed on the top during setup or it has to be undectected for one turn.
The tips are just that, tips. The manual and the forum are for more detailed explanations. We could remove the tip if you think it is wrong.

Hello!
It is not generally wrong, but not precisely enough. To be honest: some of them are so superficial that they lead you into the wrong direction.
In my case I lost at least 3 multiplayer games because I "listened" to some of these tips.
Example? "Tip: When a unit's morale drops below 50 it is suppressed and will not return fire." Great! BUT they may shoot at you if you get into their LOS, even if they are suppressed.
I love BA and especially I love multiplayer. And I feel that there are so many small "problems" preventing the players from having an awesome gaming experience. Dont get me wrong. I dont want to rant. I just want to call attention to problems and possibilities for improvements.
Greetings....

The only units which will react and fire at you when suppressed is armour. We could do a better job of making that clear for sure. This exception was because we saw too many occassions where (say) a King Tiger was being suppressed, then chased around the map by an M5 or something equally tiny. This means you still need to treat even suppressed armour with some respect. Note that they do suffer significant penalties when they fire in this way.
And we're always happy to hear about any little niggles preventing you from having fun

.
Cheers
Pip
