Strat Bombers

I've had no success using Strat bombers effectively. I bomb targets at 0-0 all of the time. I'm not exactly sure what the role of strat bombers is.
advice..?
advice..?
What is 'long term suppression' ? More than 1 attack following? I haven't noticed.Kerensky wrote:Ship killers.
Against ground targets, they cause long term suppression, similar to how artillery guns work(don't cause a lot of direct kills). They also destroy ammo and fuel supplies of units they attack.
Agreed 100%. They're the only way to keep the Royal Navy off your back... they also come in quite handy in the Sea Lion scenario.JU88s are what you want for the Norway campaign.
Buying a strategic bomber in Poland got the disadvantage of wasting some prestige as the JU88A is not available in Poland and the other two bombers got pretty poor naval attack so you got to upgrade it in Norway. Especially at higher difficulty level prestige tends to be in short supply so i prefer not to waste it. The small amount of experience the bomber can gain in the Poland scenario is way to small compared to the prestige costs of buying and then upgrading it.texican wrote:Against ships, as was mentioned, and great against AA to reduce their effectiveness so that other air can operate in the vicinity.
I find 1 or 2 Strategic bombers to be imperative. In fact, I always build and use one in the Poland scenario, and the Strategic bomber is critical for the Norwegian campaign (Operation Weserbufurubung or whatever it is called).
Except, later in the war there is an especially sweet Heinkel to upgrade to, so it's cheaper the He 111 route from that standpoint. However, I don't buy the He 111 in Poland for that reason, I just like having a unit that can neutralize stuff.Tarrak wrote:Buying a strategic bomber in Poland got the disadvantage of wasting some prestige as the JU88A is not available in Poland and the other two bombers got pretty poor naval attack so you got to upgrade it in Norway. Oh and btw. the invasion of Norway was called "Operation Weserübung"
You are right in the very long term you can upgrade the HE111 cheaply to the HE177 (iirc) but you are stuck with the HE111 through a lot of scenarios and especially in Norway i like a bomber that can actually damage the Royal Navy a bit and that's something the HE111 can not really do due to his poor naval attack rating.texican wrote:Except, later in the war there is an especially sweet Heinkel to upgrade to, so it's cheaper the He 111 route from that standpoint.
