Why so few non-German reviews?

Don't me wrong. I've already purchased the game, and I am enjoying it. I was just curious why most of the available reviews are from German mags/sites.

Thanks!

I reckon Germany is the major market where the PC is still a really strong gaming platform. I assume Slitherine has sent over review copies to all the usual suspects.

I guess it's because only Germans realize that we spelt Korps wrong :P

Not only, but where still there's a cult for good old school games. It doesn't matter if they are RPG, Wargames, point and click adventures or simulators. They know what is quality gaming.

Ahh the days of P&C Adventures. I have noticed much of the only companies doing those still today tend to be in the Euro regions. I think what killed that genre is that graphics of action games started to catch up a little, and the replayability of adventures just isn't there after the first time through the story, unless it's done for nostalgia every half-decade.

That's only part of the problem. It's the whole gaming industry that is guilty. Small studios disappear or where bought by the big ones. Games started to be seen just as commodities. Now you've just to please the shareholders and the boards of administration. And selling the idea that CoD, WoW and Guitar Heroes are the last frontier in gaming, to gamers. To add to the problem, we've the consoles and the major part of their crowd.
True quality computer gaming lives in Slitherine, BI and whole the small and indie developers.
The rest is trash.

Expect more reviews in the not too distant future. We're not sure why the Germans were so quick off the mark on PzC but we are very happy about it!

I think turn based games are still a good selling market in germany and germans like this genre maybe more than other nations.

Think of germans as the "thinking people" ;)

Some reasons were already stated in this thread: the PC market is still going relatively strong in Germany and the Panzer General series being very popular over here.

And maybe it's our militaristic heritage that boosts up the coverage

It's bizarre that this game (apparently) hasn't been covered in the anglo-american media, from what I can tell. Haven't even found a review on Metacritic, until now there are just 2 user comments... A German online magazine ("4Players") tracks the game since the beginning of the year, updating the information regularly with screenshots, unit infos etc.
As mentioned above I assume that the Germans (me included) still play a lot more on PC, especially strategy games and simulations.

The real reason why Germans are all over this game:

It may not be THE reason, but it sure as hell makes the game that more compelling:

I'm not about to translate all that, sorry.

However I present you an english Wiki article regarding why and how games land on what we call "Indizierung"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_De ... ng_Persons

What did that mean, and still does, for the original Panzer General?

A game that lands on the "Index" is, as standard procedure demands, kept there for 25 years.
