Who has bought/thinking of buying the Panzer Corps game?

I'm thinking of buying it but am unsure.... any feedback from those that have it?

I must admit I keep oscillating here, so maybe some positive feedback may convince me.

PROS
I'm fairly interested in WW2.
It has PBEM
It has PBEM multiplayer
If a good number of people I respect on this forum say it is worthwhile
If a good number of people I respect on this forum buy it

CONS
No DAG
Limited scenarios... I expect I'll get bored of the same battles after a short while
The graphics don't look great... the units don't face each other when firing!

FEARS
Will the game have lots of annoying bugs?
Will the game have an accurate manual?

What do you think?

I had never played the original. Am now hopelessly addicted to PanzerCorps. (Curse you, Slitheryones!)

>true...no DAG...would be fun but still a cool game
>there seems to be a lot to it...am still just on the third scenario...it took quite a bit to get the hang of artillery and it's true saviour function :)
>no bugs so far...simple manual for sure...like FoGPC (even simpler)(more like CEaW)...but the forum is a great place to get a question answered quick...at least they do have that!
>graphics are good...sure...face left or right...but still cool...
>sounds like people will be making scenarios, like FoGPC...hopefully Slitherine/etc will publish sets of them

Go for it!! You haven't lived until you've tried to take Norway and the Brit ships swarm your guys and pound the dudes ashore with long range naval guns!!

I own and enjoy
have about 6 mp battles going, 2 with blathergut, who appears to have learned to drive a tank as well as a chariot.

Hmm re no dags.. scale of the game, etc really wouldnt make it feasable or logical , no doudt though that a lot of user made content will be forthcoming...

amazing modding and editing capabilities

As for single player: you wont get bored , especially playing the campaigns(s)

facing: this isnt a tactical game but a quite abstract blend of tactical and operational with a hint of strategic...

manual; no comment BUT the game is prety intuitive

Blathergut / TGM - have you tried the multiplayer PBEM?

Beating on each other in snowy/muddy Russia (Russian guards and T34s vs Italians and one lone Tiger tank!! )

It works very well. Like FoG PC pbem system.

And to stick a small knife into FOG fans, they have added what many have been requesting for fog mp : a little message window that you can type in when you issue open challenges :)

got it. I had PG original (still do) very similar with few nice additions. ui is nice and intuitive. not sure why u need to face something when firing, i prefer pg original styling to all the ones that came later. Good game well worth the money.

Was totally hooked on the original decades ago. It had a fantastic community with custom maps and equipment files. I even did a top ten Wargamer scenario (Gazala to Tobruk). I hope it works again this time round. But won't be buying it just yet. For what is a remake, it just seems too dear. Will probably come round though...

With PBEM multiplayer can games be 1 vs 2 or 2 v2 or is 'multiplayer' 1 v 1?

1 vs 1

(I think this may have as much to do with the Slitherine pbem server as the game itself.)

It was mentioned that a campaign pbem might be coming in the future...but gods know when that might be (or if).

I've been enjoying the initial campaign in Poland, Norway, and the Lowlands.

1v1 so far not sure you will see 2V2 online ever, but who knows.

Former PZ General fan here as well, I got lucky to be in the PZ Corps beta, it is a game that is well worth the money. Buy the game you know you want to...

But from apart from the nostalga, there seems to be very little new.

My concern is that the player must always take the German side. This is distasteful, if true. Could someone confirm whether this is really the case?

You play as the Germans if you play single-player campaigns.

You can be Allies in multiplayer games.

You can also play as the Allies in all single player stand alone scenarios.

I loved the original, especially after using one of the many mods available.

Are there plans for add ons?

Yes, but nothing announced yet. It will have a long and healthy future based on the first 2 weeks of sales.
