I get no sound in the game....

Try and google for MCI codec, I`me no expert, but you need that codec to play the sound and it somehow is missing from your Windows.

If your problem is related with mp3 files, you can just convert all of them to wav, and replace all mp3 files.
It doesn't take more than 5 minutes as long as you've the right tool, like foobar2000.

I am playing version 1.0 on my XP service pack 3 dual core PC and am using direct X 9.0c. I get no error message from the game but I play in total silence. The intro MP3 files play fine but the all the .wav files do not. The .wav files from the game do not play in Windows Media player either although other .wav files on my PC do. When I play the individual .wav files from the game on WMP I receive an error message to the effect that WMP might not support the file type or the codec used to compress the file. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

I don't have an explanation, only that you're problem is related with codecs.
Or you install a pack of codecs and hopefully solve it, or you can go the other way around, probably if you convert to mp3 and replace the wave you'll solve the problem.

I think that they can't do much because the problem its on your local machine.
I know this must be frustrating, but you've to understand that you're one of the few with that problem.
Reinstalling the codec pack won't solve the issues sometimes. Because there might be a conflict. Now thats my personal experience, believe me or not. I've been through it, mainly with movies. The only way that I solved such a problem was formating and do a clean OS install. Not that I'm suggesting you to do that, but I'm just giving my personal view.

But have you tried to do like I've told in the last post? Converting all the wav to mp3? It's easy and you can do it in 5 minutes with foobar2000.

I can't promise that it will work, but I'd try it.

Sorry you are having problems. At the moment the issue seems to be related to a driver/codec issue on your machine. We are looking to work around it but we don't have a fix yet, but we will continue to look in to it.
