My opponent took off a dead element in such a way that a friendly unit was now over 3 mu away from a breaking unit, thus avoiding the CT.

This was a move i made and i have a great deal of sympathy with Lawrences' dislike of the situation.
It arose because there was a one element wide gap between two of my BGs. If i had routed through a failed CT then this nearest BG would have had to test. Because i routed through the death roll/auto break mechanism i could remove the casualty before having to test any BGs for a rout within 3MU, and so obviosly removed the element which would create the 2 element wide gap. It does seem a little unfair that i was able to escape through what does appear to be an annomoly.

PS. Yes i've looked in the glossary
