Suppression Question

Why does supression dissapear after attack? I thought it was for the whole turn?
Example: In Norway, I hit the anit-air with naval and supressed 6/6. Hit it with a tank and killed 3. There still should be 3 supressed,, right? But the 3 are no longer supressed.
I've noticed this affects all units not just anti-air. just an example.

Units rally after a non-suppression based engagement.
This was to prevent a 5 star 15 strength unit being denuded for potentially unlimited follow up attacks.
Artillery is quite powerful even with limited suppression.

Capital ships give a long term suppression, I think. I'm not sure if in the case of strategic bombers the suppress time is the same as artillery.

All units which cause long-term suppression do this according to the same rules. So any hand-to-hand zero-range attack cancels suppression. Long-term suppression models the fact that artillery fire can be used as a preparation for assault, not that a unit becomes completely frozen for the whole day.

Yep, this was the same in the original. Only a few selected units were able to apply suppression for the whole turn.
