I have Windows 2008 R2 and I am trying to make the program run so far unsucessfully. I have tried the compatability modes. I can run every other windows game so far but this one. My computer specs are more that adequate for this game. The program seems to download fine, accepts the code, installs fine, and the screen come up when you click the icon. Te error code is below. Does someone know why this game does not like Win 2008 R2? Is there something that needs to be turned on or activated for it to run? Please help!! I really want to get this thing going! Thanks in advance.

Do you see the intro video when you run the game, or it dies before the video gets a chance to display?

No, nothing happens. It dies before anything happens at all.

Error message in the game file.

I also found this in the game file.

KERNEL MEMORY CHECKING IS **OFF**

Installed running as administrator

Just to let you know, I also ran the compatability troubleshooter and it wanted me to run it in Vista 2 mode, even though I believe the kernel is closer to Windows 7.

During beta testing I've seen once or twice that the game died when trying to show intro video. Some codec issue. Could you please try to go to the game's installation folder and rename Video subfolder to something else (e. g. _Video) so that the game does not try to play the video file? Default installation folder is %Program Files%\Slitherine\Panzer Corps.

That did it!

But I wish I could see the videos! I have Shark007 codec pack. I am able to watch the video by itself now. Game works with that mod! That may be a good post for others who may be having a problem. This brings back old memories of PG 1.2.3. but not 3D! That would be totally awesome if this could morph into 3D! Is there any way to mod the flags so that they are historically correct? Thanks!

I think, the issue you faced is not related to codec per se, but to the combination of the codec and API I use to play the video. So, it is quite hard to fix. I'll see if I can fix this, but it will take time.

3D mode for the game is a possibility, but something for a more distant future. :)

Yes you can mod all flags the way you like. There are several sets of flags used by the game (rectangular ones, round ones etc.), but all of them are plain image files and can be replaced with anything else. Check out the following locations inside game's install folder:
- Graphics/Overlays/flags.png
- UI/flags
- UI/purchase/flags

Converting flags.

How would you convert the flags to png? One file has all the flags on it. How would you convert just one of them? What size and resolution should the files be? Thanks!

Problem solved!

To get this to work with Win 2008 R@ simply rename the Video subfolder to _video and it will work no problem! Thanks guys!
