Hi!

At the End of Sea Lion 40 (Debriefing) there is meant that the Gestapo will deal with those wo didnt flee to the US. For a version which should be distributed in Germany/Austria that should be removed.

Why? Is it forbidden like SS?
I think I'll call my deputy and suggest him also to try to approve some legislation where the word "Holy Inquisition" (Santa Inquisição) is banished from Portuguese and history books.

The Inquisition death toll is somewhere around 5000+ - that of the Third Reich is a bit bigger. People from Germany are, by and large, justified in being sensitive about this and their beliefs should be honoured IMO. It doesn't change the game and allows players to still feel good about winning as the Germans. I felt the same way when I won at Sealion and I'm not German.

I doubt it was only 5000, in Portugal and Spain together. And not counting the ones who weren't tortured or survived and had to move away. However even if it was that number, on those days was a big number, and it had a big impact in those societies in all kind of levels. But we're here only speaking about numbers, death and torture, and that's not my point.
This is off topic anyway. I understand the reasons why the developers will have to replace the true historical name of some units and eventually replace also in some of the descriptions.
Besides it's like you've said I will enjoy the same way the game.

Hi!

The difference is, that the USK in Germany is able to set a game on the black list, which means that its forbidden to sale. And I want to stress out, that the fact that the "Gestapo is dealing with people" is the problem and not the word Gestapo alone.

sensitive matter should be avoided, otherwise the game will have lost significant numbers of sale. I agree for removal of such wording.

Joseph Stalin actually managed a number larger than his German counter part, should they ban everything Russian?

This is my favorite fact I like to tell people, don't steal my thunder!
But seriously, it is very hypocritical, but unfortunately that's just how the world works. We have to obey the rules, regardless of absurdity or unfairness, or we have to suffer the consequences (game banned in X locations)

Of course Stalin was a mass murderer of a similar ilk to Hitler (and Mao too, and others). Their motivations were political, Hitler's were racial (and political to a lesser degree). If there were military representatives of their regimes being glorified in a game it would be as insensitive as for the SS but I don't see any in PzC. Stalin was on the winning side and got to avoid the harsh glare of interrogation but that doesn't make the SS any less of a criminal organisation involved in atrocious war crimes. Players and designers can still name their units however they like, so it's not a biggie, really, as far as the game is concerned.

Problem is, in current Russia it is not a problem to glorify Stalin - and a lot of people still perceive him as a "Father of Nations". Russia has to solve this problem itself, imo.
In Germany anything connected to Nazism is bannable - and Germans will not hesitate about it.
