Yes...

I always used to rename them to pay more attention to my CORE versus Aux units.

I also do it now to pay more attention to key units, and add a bit more personality. e.g.:

52n'd Sherman = Kelly's Heroes
2nd Tiger I = 007 (Wittmann)
12'th Panther = Whoopy-Cat

etc..
