Can someone please explain to me how Initiative, effective attack vs defence, miss statistics and dice rolls work?

For example I had a
43 grenadier (13) VS IS-2 (7).
Effective initiative 3 vs 2
effective attackVsDefence 10 vs 8
effective defenceVsattack 11 vs 14
--------
unsuppressed str=13 unsuppressed str=5
Miss 40% Suppress 11% Kill 49% miss 35% suppress 12% Kill 53%
DRolls= 9 40 10 45 59 31 5 79 26 51 3 52 88 Drolls 93 90 55 65 64
(4 killed, 3suppressed) (5 killed 1 suppressed)

==============================================================
a) whats the point of high initiatives? Terrain caps it.
b) how does effective attack VS defence affect each other?
c) how is it possible to roll 5 times and to infict 5+1 strength damage?

... whats the point of high initiatives? Terrain caps it.
If your opponent has high init, then you try to force him to fight in terrain of your chosing (low caps).

If he has low init compared to you, then you still try to force him to fight in terrain of your chosing (no caps).

Capish?

thanks Obsolete. That makes sense for (a). Initiative considers the defender's terrain and affects both attacker and defender regarding their types seperatelly.

When it no longer discusses what determines in the "combat log" experience?
Both units have 2 stars, but in the log is somewhere +1 and in the next row +2, why? :idea:

I'm too tired to think, but I'm guessing it's because one is the attacker, and the other is defending, which bonuses experience differently.
