Civil War ROR.... round 2 : Attalid Pergamene

Eumenes II

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eumenes II of Pergamon (Εὐμένης Β' τῆς Περγάμου) (ruled 197–159 BC) was king of Pergamon and a member of the Attalid dynasty. The son of king Attalus I and queen Apollonis, he followed in his father's footsteps and collaborated with the Romans to oppose first Macedonian, then Seleucid expansion towards the Aegean, leading to the defeat of Antiochus the Great at the Battle of Magnesia in 190 BC. Following the peace of Apamea in 188 BC, he received the regions of Phrygia, Lydia, Pisidia, Pamphylia, and parts of Lycia from his Roman allies, as they had no desire to actually administer territory in the Hellenistic east but wished for a strong state in Asia Minor as a bulwark against any possible Seleucid expansion in the future.[citation needed] He later fell out of favour with the Romans after they suspected him of conspiring with Perseus of Macedon and consequently in 167 BC, the Romans made an abortive attempt to suborn his brother Attalus II, as a pretender to the Pergamene throne and refused Eumenes entry into Italy to plead his case

....and did he get annoyed with his brother!!!

I think ian lost 2 generals [maybe 1 routed off the board, or both], he can clarify.

Similar OOB's [obviously]. We danced for a few turns trying to jockey for some key ground on left [his right] flank. Some combats went my way on that flank, exposing his battle line. He lost a general [to rout] early on, which didn't help.

Close game for most of the way, and it could have easily gone against me.

Thanks for the game and good luck in the next round.

A tough game against the organiser!

Morbio 34/43 vs 48/46 Archie

I lost a 2 Flag general and Archie a 1 and a 2 Flag general

I don't think my emotions have been so much like a yo-yo for a while

Great game Archie! :D

I lost the C-C only from what i see , the Galatian Ally was still there , steady
but not too happy about the battle ;-(

The C-C was a 3 flag inspired general as well.

Thanks for the game.

Cheers Ian

A nail biter that came down to the last turn. Seems like mercenary Galatians just aren't as good as allied ones although with pike support they did well enough in the end. Killed a 2(?) flag LH general on the final turn by surrounding it. Petran1978 was in position to loot my camp but had not done so yet when the festivities endedd. Thanks for an exciting and well played game.
