About the in-game Messaging System

The new messaging system is a vast improvement on what we had!

However, I have some ideas on how it could be further improved. I think the idea behind the original requests for improvements, was that we could add messages or add bits to an existing message as we play the turn.

I have been playing a user-made Crete scenario on multiplayer, and as this is just a beta for the scenario itself, we are needing to talk in detail about actions at certain areas on the map. It would be lovely if we could move around the map (say, by 'minimizing' the message dialogue) so we can refresh our memories as to what's going on in certain areas of the map. Even for full release scenarios, this would be a bonus for us all, as we would be able to comment on action around the map (and comments may even help in compiling AARs).

So, I propose that we have the option to keep an ongoing message open, yet minimized, so we can come back to it over the course of a turn. Is this possible?

It's already there - use Ctrl-M and the message screen will appear. It doesn't get minimsed but you can open and comment as many times as you like during a turn.

Ah!

Aha! Cheers! I did not know that. I suspect others I play with also don't know either, as I am getting multiple messages in a row (as I am doing). I expect this will be made more fully obvious in future releases, then

Cheers.

Each time you open the message screen and enter a message it gets a time stamp and its own entry. You can get multiple entries from your opponent with any turn. Is that what you mean by multiple messages in a row?

Yes, but...

Well, yes.

What I was thinking was, a more consolidated method of sending a single message. Rather than one message at the beginning (reply to opponent's message), then one at the end (my thoughts on how my turn went - which is what I do), I was really hoping we could get a single message where I could give my reply, then my thoughts on the turn, but while doing the second part (my thoughts on the turn), be able to view the map and talk about individual attacks. With the current system, as I understand it, this is only possible by sending a string of separate messages.

Try Ctrl-M - you can send as many messages as you like from before, during, end of turn.
