I captured an Airfield with Romania and didn't get the prestige for this.

Why?

I do not have any Romanian cities but that should not matter as they are both Axis.

Rather than making a new thread, can I join in and ask my related question? Sorry, I can't answer yours, Razz1, but hopefully the devs can answer both at once.

I am unable to understand which units can capture VP. Sometimes I move into a city with a unit - e.g. artillery - and the flag doesn't change. Which units can, and which units cannot?

Probably the second time you took the airfield, I tested this and it works fine.
To test:
Start Stalingrad, hotseat mode.
Move Russian units away from Rostov.
Move Romanians to capture airfield near Rostov.

Infantry, tanks, anti-tank, and recon can capture.
Artillery, air defense, fighters, bombers, level bombers cannot.

In other words, top 4 classes on the buy list can, bottom 5 can't.

It is not the second time.

Now I believe it is the fact that Romanian troops are on the map but Romania is not listed as an Axis player in the list.

Edit : So I wonder if I move a German unit there I can get the prestige. Perhaps the Romanian troops are acting as a neutral.

That would be the Zitmor map which is almost balanced.

Did you check terrain beneath the airfield? Does it have flag?

Yes it has a flag and when the Germans captured it from the Romanians, they did not get 50 prestige
