I started a 43 W campaign. After 3 turns, several Italian units have been destroyed. The matter is that I cannot buy new ones - it says I dont have slots.

What am I doing wrong?

Auxillary units dont use slots and can't be bought. This seems to be correct as I understand it?

then why are they available in the purchase screen if they cannot be purchased whatsoever?

You can buy them in stand alone mode.

Then surely they shouldn't show up while playing a campaign? On the other hand, why not allow purchasing of these units? They probably can't have medals or heroes, but might still be fun to have.

I wouldn't mind having nothing against minor countries units being the part of the core not just auxiliary and in this particular scen I would like to make more use of Italians but they are not to be consistent with other scens and there is no UI element for auxiliary slots.

EDIT: IMO player should be able to chose whether to buy auxiliary or core unit when he has both slots available. In PG you could buy core units and when you reached limit you had auxiliary on disposal.

If you like Italians, there's a couple multiplayer maps with Italy as core forces!
