Hi,

I also just got the Beta.

I jumped into the tutorial, probably could have muddled through, but I wanted a few finer pointers. I would like to see the unit stats permanently below the Strategic map to start with. That is info I always need to know, I don't need to memorize to start. Also, for artillery and towed anti-tank guns, could you add a warning about buying transports, I have a habit of forgetting sometimes. :-)

I love the subtle hexes, I always played the Panzer General games with the hexes off, but I really like the subtle hex sides. The graphics look great.

Back to playing.

Tim

I think as you look at the screen once the game loads you have feel as to what the game will be like and what the developers are going for: looks very bold, aggressive and there is an eye for detail as you can see in the two tigers on screen (tow joints, steel side cables for towing, the additional tracks, etc...).

Once your in the tutorial the feel is very familiar to Panzer gamers and it seems for novice players the learning curve is really going to be easy. I have only played two tutorials so my feedback is only limited to those first two games:

1) The first tutorial the contrast for the units and the background is somewhat similar in tone and while you can differentiate the two I am curious if your older gamers will have any issues with this...Panzer Corps it seems will have a huge following for it's exist base and most of those it seem are much older than your current core of gamers. Just a subtle issue that you to ponder I guess (not a compliant but I assume you want all types of feedback).

2) Either I missed it or one thing that was a minor issue was I did not see any range for artillery. You can see movement range but where was the range for shelling or bombardments on the actual unit?

3) I did not see any player (AI) activity on the Russian side in the 1st tutorial so I was a little uncertain if this was due to Beta or not.

You are playing bootcamp against your fellow Germans, no Russian in sight! But it is intentional, the tutorial is really build up to learn to game to players new to the genre.

How can I tell which units are in my core and which are just supporting? PG had black lettering for core troops and white for support. I like to use my core for the experience.

Core have gold/red twisted borders, auxiliary silver around their strength plate.

Also when you toggle the Unit List on the Main UI you will see all your cores are gold, auxiliary silver borders.

I should say I have it running on my Wife's PC.
E5300 2.6 GHZ
1 GB value RAM
500 GB HD
ATI 4670 video
Windows 7 home

Runs very smooth, graphics look great.
Also I like the number comparisons in red and green in the unit purchasing/upgrading screen.

Can I install the game on my other PC? I will only be using 1 at a time.

Athlon II 640 3 GHZ
4 GB corsair RAM
500 GB HD
nVidia 460 GTX
Windows 7 Ultimate
Hooked up to my 42" LCD 720P

Very useful info thanks, good to see it running smooth on a Eee. I don`t remember if we have limited installs security on our Beta`s, definitely not on the final game!
Just install and if you run into a problem, post here.

Had my first crash. I was starting the 1939 campaign after new install on my other PC and click on the Infantry unit in the Southwest corner. Clicked on unit then right clicked on space next to Polish city, then I quickly left clicked and Windows 7 message poped up saying looking for solution and then stated game is no longer responding and exited to Desktop upon clicking OK. I have not been able to repeat this problem.

Athlon II 640 3 GHZCPU
4 GB of RAM
nVidia 460 GTX, 756 MB of RAM video
Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit (Yes I know I should be running 64 bit with 4 GB of RAM)
500 GB HD

Started to play some campaigns now...has that PG feeling and you can tell it's upgraded/modern in both feeling and overall visual display. I would still like to see a displayed range on artillery units when in combat/use on battlefield, the only place I see it currently is when your purchasing the units.

It seemed to me that the AT units (Marder series) seemed more powerful than tanks in battle, specifically the Panzer IVH and they both have 75mm guns. Perhaps this was the just the roll of the die or that you have the Marder higher by 1 pt, but, it seemed greater difference in actual play.

It seemed strange that if you finish the Polish campaign and move onto the Dutch/Belgium/France campaign that your same damage level carried over in the new campaign. I had a unit at 1 pt left and it would come into battle at that point with just 1 pt...I can understand if this was a campaign at the same front (Russia) but to move a completely different front there should be an increase the unit that survived to a minimal level at least (say 5 pts). I agree there should be a carry over in casualties losses/damage but also an increase to a set level for new campaign.

Overall, looking foward to more gameplay, looks very good so far!

Tank destroyers were better agains tanks than other tanks as they tended to be smaller targets etc, but tanks are more multi purpose. Tank destroyers are much more vulnerable to infantry.

Casualties must be replaced because your prestige carries over. If we healed for free then you would have gamey tactic of not healing units before the end of a game.

I was playing the low country scenario in my 1939 campaign. I take 2 11 strength He111 1 star each against the Dutch and the Belgian cities with Infantry by the river on the first turn. The air defense is 14 for both, the pre results is 0 1 for the Belgian attack and 0 0 for the dutch attack??? After looking closely, I had thought the Me110c from the original core was a He111h, so there should be differences. My accuse is the Plane icons are very similar and I was playing game on a 21.5" LCD at 1920X1080 resolution.

Also the Belgian 33 Chasseur unit entrenched at the cross roads on the first turn has my Ju87 (under 100 experience) losing 2 to 1, I attack and lose 4 to 0. The air attack of the Chasseur is only 1 with a air defense of 15. What gives here. Also, I can see 1 or 2 losses, but 4! Tried it with a Me109 and the odds are lose 2 to 0. I don't care how entrenched the unit is there is no way they are that tough against air units. The He111 and Ju88 are 0 to 0 attacks against this unit.

The other thing was the Norway scenario, with Planes attacking ships (He111) the odds are you are going to lose plane points for a 1 to1 attack. Not good when you have to pay every scenario to replace them during a campaign. So IMHO it is worthless to try and attack ships with planes even though historically planes would devastate ships. Yes, I know they are level bombers, but even the JU87 has the same odds. Going back and finding that I was using a Me110c instead of a He111, tried the scenario again and now I can destroy ships with a Ju88a, do disregard this dumb comment.

I went back and what I thought was a He111 was actually a Me110c, so yes there would be a difference in the 2 attacks.

My problem with the Ju87 attack vs the Belgian 33 Chasseur is that there were no shoulder held stingers during WW2. I think maybe there should be a limit to the damage a [1] strength air attack Infantry unit can do ,maybe no more than 1 point of damage. My main point is that with the present system for a campaign of no replacements without spending prestige, Bombers become less useful, because they don't do much damage with the decreased soft attack and doubling or tripling the ground defense rating of Infantry type units. The Ju87 was called the flying artillery for a reason. Or am I missing something.

I found 3 things that could be problems:

1. Norway scenario, during placement of core units go into Purchase screen. Core Units shows 18, shouldn't this be 2 or 3. I have a save of this.

2. Upgrading units, what are the rules? I can upgrade a Wehrmacht Infantry to a Grenadier for 10, but if I try to upgrade a He111h to a Ju88a the cost 314. If you try to upgrade after you don't have enough prestige the price of the Ju88a is 377. Also if I upgrade a 105 to a 150 the price is 85, but if I upgrade the 105 to the sIG33 the price is 350. What exactly are the rules for upgrading troops?

3. the buttons, if the description pops up and you try to click on the button there is a possibility you will click on another button. This one is really annoying. I tried to click on the embark button with the description popup up for a Fallschirmjäger and received an Elite replacement. Without a back button this can be a killer.
