Is there any way at all I can (after finishing my turn), gain access to the game so I can study/analyze it while my opponent makes his move?

Am also open to any suggestions along these lines

Not at the moment no - its not impossible to add but is something the game client would need to be modified to allow.

Please do so. It would add a lot to the game experience as one could analyze the situation while waiting for the opponent to play his turn.
