I like this idea as well... maybe in one of the future expansions, if not the final release?

Well... I would rather have Horse for transport.
Make the cost 12 Prestige.
Horses were the most valuable unit in Russia.
Why? They worked and were immune to the muddy conditions.
They should be able to move 3 hexes no matter what weather conditions.

i second!!
brilliant idea!

they dont need fuel, they ignore weather conditions...but vulnerable to enemy attack.

Germany
German Army entered World War II with 514,000 horses,[13] and over the course of the war employed, in total, 2.75 million horses and mules;[16] average number of horses in the Army reached 1.1 million.[26]

I can bet that "horses" unit can be done now. You need to add new movement type : horses, define same movement cost for grass, mud, snow and then define new transport unit using such new movement type. This should be possible using Notepad from Windows.
Some kind of recon planes however are not possible to define using Notepad only.

Horse movement type already exists, so all that's needed is to add actual unit.

^ excuse me... but wagon with two horses.
A wagon is useless without the horses.
Better yet horses hauling an artillery piece.

sorry in my mind the wagon and horse go together period, no need to mention the "horse power" separately. Guess our brains make different pictures.

I'm not sure I want to add a brand new unit class for recon planes only, and if we give "reckon plane" ability to some existing fighters or bombers, I'm afraid that nobody will use ground recon any more.

the maps are pretty small. I don't think we really need them, but perhaps in the editor for large maps.

I would use the Ground and air variety, the ground because it has a defenite attack value. I use them to scout, occupy and defend, as well as occasionaly attack depleted armored units that restrict my movement.

Recon planes can not be used due to supply rules.
They would block supply of enemy troops.
really, there is no need for them.

What if the recon planes had to return base at the end of every turn (or else they would run out of fuel?) - that way they wouldn't need to interrupt or disrupt supply lines.
