Silly Question ... What do the Capture & Hold VPs Mean?

I've been told that there aren't any silly questions ... but I may be about to prove that wrong especially after having played over 200 BA games.

What exactly do the numbers after the "Capture & Hold VPs" mean? For example, my last two games (Clash of Armor as Germans & US) ended showing 6:3 and 7:2 when my last tank in both games was destroyed. Both games ended during my opponents turn and I saw all this via reply. What seemed really strange to me is that I got the "Objective Completed!" message with the checkbox in both games even though I had no more units left.

I think this may be related to a bug we've just fixed. If you lose all your units you have lost but it was failing to report correctly some times.

Iain, thanks.

By the way and sorry again for this silly question that I should know the answer to, but could someone enlighten me on what the two numbers after the "Capture & Hold VPs" mean? For example, Capture & Hold VPs: 6:3?

If it's the same as solo play .... The values compare how many VP's you own over how many you need.

So, 6:3 means ... you own 6 out of a minimum of 3 to win.

If it is shown X:Y then it compares what you have with your enemy. The higher wins.

If it is X/Y it is what you have out of what you need.

Thanks you. Now I see why I got the, "Objective Completed" message in both games even though my opponent had destroyed all my units in both games. I now understand what the bug is that Iain was referring to. In both games I was obviously too aggressive and seized a number of objectives more than I need to hold to win. Then, when my last unit was destroyed, even though there were 4 or 5 turns left, the game ended without my opponent having the chance to take (retake) the undefended VPs.

Iain, thanks. I see, and now I can apperciate the subtle difference between X:Y & X/Y formats.

rkr1958,

You know, I've been playing this since it first came out and I didn't even recognize the subtle difference
I'm glad you asked ... no question has ever been silly in this forum!

I hope junk2drive can add this to the FAQ.
