Date has been set for this years Garagecon - July 23/24.

Standard format, four 3.5 hour games over 2 days, 800pts on 6x4 tables.

Swiss chess draw, but we will institute pools, so players from the same clubs don't play each other (at least for first couple of games and games lower on points table).

Normally comp is free, but Garage can only handle 12 (we were at max last year). If response is bigger we may look at alternate venue.

Hey guys, so far we have 14 starters for Garagecon.

At this stage it will still be held in the garage (14 being the max it will hold)

I have put players into groups, based on who they play most frequently. We will run the draw so you don’t play anyone in your group in the first 2 rounds and also in the second 2 round, unless you are playing for a top spot (probably top 6)

As usual we don’t have a pre-tournament list check, so make sure your list is right or be prepared to face ridicule on the day.

If you’re flying into Nelson, let me know when and where your staying, and I’ll see what we can do about picking you up.

Hey guys, update on Garagecon.

At this stage we have 15 competitors, which means a bye for someone each round.

I am proposing that one of the Nelson guys, myself, Aaron, Josh or Mark, will take the first round bye, with byes in round 2-4 going to the lowest placed competitor after each round.

If you do have a bye you will be awarded 12.5 points

Finally, for first round was thinking of closest buy date draw (excluding teammates). If we do this I’ll need army dates from everyone, don’t need army, just date. Or do people just want a random draw (excluding teammates)??

Aaron has suggested that it be the Nelsons player that each take a bye each round, and I happy with that. No one wants a bye, but travelling and getting a bye would suck.

So at this stage if we can't find a 16th player it looks like Aaron, Josh, Mark and myself will each have a bye. (wish I'd said the bye player gets more points, LOL)

It's also been suggested the first round be a random draw as some player have no idea what they are bringing army wise.

Updates over the weekend would be most appreciated .

Strangely, Josh will not be partaking in liquid consuption...so he says!
