Beta 0.98 FEEDBACK

After playing the first 39 campaign here is my first feedback:

primary issues:
-apparently there is a big problem with reinforcing units. the prestige will be removed and the unit will be deactivated for this turn (due to the maintaince) but the unit don´t regain strength. happened two times of 7 or 8 tries. By now I can´t say if this happens only for elite replacement or other circumstances but people should know and observe this problem (a savegame shouldn´t be necessary because after reinforceing 3 or 4 units the problem should occur, but feel free to ask)

secondary things:
-new weather icons looking good
-move/attack check icons looking nice and is a great enhancement

minory things:
-lack of bridge icons in the tileset, at some places where a street passes a river theres no actual bridge (on a visiual side/Tileset)

Do the low soft attack stats for early tanks makes sense? I´m thinking about that right now. A tank should always win (more or less "win") against a soft unit even with 1 or 2 points in soft attack. Every tank should have a minimum of 3 at soft attacks because it´s a tank. Just a thought plz comment^^

Is it ok to make a new thread for the new beta version or should I wirte directly in the bug thread?

edit: At the end of a round I got an error there would be units wich are unmoved... but I moved every single unit... this feature is not working as intended I think :D

Just a quick question. Why was the rail gun removed?

It is here but in 1943 now.

Many of those "tanks" were armed only with machine-guns. When you get a REAL tank you do have SA of 3 and higher.

Not sure if I should be posting on this thread or not but I found after loading the new Beta that the screen was not scrolling as smoothly as the .96 Beta. I realize this could be my system but since it moved smoothly on my system with the previous version I wanted to mention that I was seeing this issue now.

Also, I like the little red dots to tell you if a unit has attacked or not during a turn.

I just finished playing Barbarossa. I will try the multi-player shortly.

Just started to test the new release. And i want to share my very first impression.
About the new game menu : Whaouw. It's perfect. Very nice.

Also the library seems very well done.

Can anyone confirm my problem with the reinforcements I described in the first post?

It appears all the tanks have the same movement sound.

the flag next to foreign units help allot.

Need to get use to the arrow.

I saw an infantry unit switch directions. That was good.

Confirmed the library only links to the Tiger I

EDIT: I have not had a problem with prestige being removed and a unit being upgraded in Poland using the Fall Weiss Campaign.

Checked a couple of other units and they work too.

While playing the US Midwest scenario I was the Allies. When I finally destroyed all German ground units and captured all German objectives, every town/objective on the map was Allies, it still would not let me "win". There was 4 German planes still in the air but I had to wait till they ran out of fuel before the scenario gave me the win. Which just happened to be on the last turn. I had all my planes shot down by the Axis so I was unable to go after them. The Axis planes just sat in the same hex, 1 of them was in the lower left hand part of the map were there was no units in close proximity.

My opinion is that if you control all the airfields and towns on the map you should win. I am not sure if this is by design but it doesn't makes sense to me.

- Nice new campaign/scenario selection screen. Would be nice to see the map in the scenario selection screen changing when selecting another than the Poland scenario though.

- Game options with side selection cannot be overlooked now - great!

- Nice to have markers showing movement/combat left

- Would still like to see an explosion when a unit is destroyed rather than watching the unit just disappear and at least one more map zoom level

- Toggel Stats Panel on should be saved for all future games

- Good idea to show number of available core units when hovering mouse cursor over the purchase button

- What about the possibility to share left prestige points between different units (i.g. Infantry 6 Strength Points, Tank 6 Strength Points => replacements for both units to 8 Strength Points rather than replacements for one unit to 10 and no prestige left for the other) ?

- A stats screen showing own/enemy losses during a scenario would be fine

What is naming convention for citys and rivers ? English when possible if not pre-war names (or post war names) ?

Naming errors/omissions:
In Barbarossa scenario top-lest city is Pułtusk.
In Berlin East - Elbe river and Danube river are not named.

Probably many more. In editor there should be check against such errors : report river tiles that are not having "unique" name.

Never had a problem with reinforcements, yet, but I'll keep an eye on this. Be sure to check prestige amounts and adjacent enemy units, both can interfere with reinforcements.

We recently migrated to a new trigger system to handle scenario victory conditions (to make way for custom maps) and this migration is not fully completed yet. So yes, you should win if you control the entire map and destroy all enemy units, it's simply not yet configured properly.

Great game, guys, getting hooked on it already. Some comments below:

- Hotkey C, Casulaties, all I get is a white line middle of screen, what is it supposed to show?

- Ctrl+Click is supposed to show extended combat prediction, does it work?

- Ctrl and Alt click only available as 'hotkeys' ? Should also be available in the menu or with the mouse somehow.

- Please add zoom to hotkeys. +/- and perhaps pgUp/pgDn for zoom in/out

- Access to Library from inside game, still need to exit to menu first?

1. Not fully implemented yet. This window should display unit casualties for the current scenario, with a possible toggle to show total casualties for an entire campaign.

2. Grab unit. Mouse over enemy unit so prediction numbers appear. Hold control. Right Click.

3. Are you asking for customization of hot keys?

4. You mean zoom like mousewheel zoom? Might be nice to also have hot keys for.

5. I believe the plan is to add 'library links' to the 'purchase unit' interface. Purchase unit/upgrade interface is still a work in progress. 15.5 on The List

2. Got it, not easy to understand from just 'Ctrl+Click' though :D

3. No, just wondering if it would be possible to include an option for users not wanting to use the keyboard. Seems most of the other hotkeys have a menu button or similar available to them. Could you implement handlers for 'left-click and hold' ? Then user could e.g. left click and hold on a unit to get detailed info.

4. On my laptop the 'mousewheel' is a pain on the touchpad, would much prefer +/-

5. Library link from the detailed info screen would be good, too. Would like to be able to see list of hotkeys without exiting to menu as well though. Regarding 'purchase unit' and hotkeys, I wonder what the need is for a hotkey for this function (B), does people buy new unites that often??

English name from that period if possible.

Thanks for Pultusk it is fixed. Apparently all German scenarios do not have named rivers and I could swear I did it. But I do know where that bug is coming from

I have found that scrolling in the new version is not as smooth as it was in the original beta version that I down loaded, this is my 3rd beta update of the game. Second version scroll was very jumpy and tended to get stuck a lot, now it just seems to constantly jump a bit at a time, not flow smoothly.
Going to try a new campaign since there have been some major changes to things.
I really like the sub combat animations and sounds, finally we can see them doing something instead of just sitting there.

I was wondering if some of the player vs player games should have their turns increased, in a game of sea lion and it seems unlikely the Germans will have enough time to get rid of the RAF and RN and still get on shore. The game plays very different vs human as opposed to the AI

Same problem with scrolling. Going very jumpy when moving in diagonal. Previous versions didn´t have this issue.

Is there a surreder option in MP? If not, one should probably be implemented.

Great animation of the Pioneers! Love the Flamethrower!! Subs also look nice with those tiny torpedoes. And please, add a destroyed unit animation, even if just the same explosion for all of them. Would help a lot.

Yes i noticed to same problem on my system, maps scrolling is sluggish.
Version .94 scrolling was very smooth,in vers .96 it got a little bit worse but still good
and in this version there's another drop in scrolling performance.
It's still acceptable but i fear once there are even more grafic-files in future (tiles and terrain objects) it may get worse.
I got a Gforce GTX480 with 1,5GB RAM ,Win Vista32bit 4GB Ram (only 3GB used by 32bit Windows ofc)and 2,4ghz intel quadcore CPU.

Some other feedback.

--New moved/fiered info,perfect:)

--New Main Menu,perfect

--Unit facing towards the enemy in combat is a very nice feature
