We played our first game last night using the Roman - Carthaginian test armies. Taking one small fight it was the 2 BGs each of 6 element for the Carthaginians (call them A and B) v 3 BGs each of 4 Romans (call them X, Y and Z). Both sides were bin 2 ranks and so 6 elements wide. So each Carthaginian was fighting 2 Roman BGs. The end 2 Roman BGs fought a single opponent and the middle Roman fought both Carthaginians. So in effect there were 4 combats
- A v X , A v Y, B v Y and B v Z. Now am I doing something wrong or do I need to keep the number of casualties from each 'impact round' and for each 'melee round' seperate to see who loses each 'phase' to take the CMT and to do the 'Death Roll'? I.e. each side needs to keep 8 sets of 'hits' - 4 impact and 4 melee.

Probably best in the beta forum but...

You resolve the whole impact phase then roll for cohesion tests and death rolls as required

Then you do the same in melee

The way I run things is if a BG is fighting two enemy BG's I roll one set of dice but with say four of one colour and two of the other. I then leave the dice that have hit behind the BG that inflicted the hit so you can see which BG has hit what. Once all the dice are rolled you can make your tests and then collect them in for the next set of combats.

Hope that makes sense.

P.S. if you roll three dice after a combat, two of one colour and one of a different colour you get your CT and death roll in one which helps speed play.
