The manual states: Step One
Right click a battle group and a grey and white grid will appear underneath it.
The 'white' tile indicates the direction the battle group is facing.

But the white indicator did no not appear, instead a popup allows to choose "Change facing".
After selecting this option, the facing direction does not appear either. You can change facing, but you could not see where was currently facing the group.
The only way to see the facing is making the zoom in and looking at the icon image.

The manual is slightly out of date. We added new features on the right click so you now have to select the option you want. You can show teh current facing by turning on the base markers from the preferences. Hope that helps.

This should be updated in the 1.6.2 update.
