We've had the infantry for the Spanish conquistadores made in 15mm scale, staying close to the reference images in Ian Heath's splendid "Armies of the 16th Centuries, Armies of the Aztecs etc." Note that unlike Spanish troops in Europe, many of these wear the quilted armour that was lighter and more useful against the slings and arrows of outrageous Mayans, to paraphrase the Bard. Also the burgonet appears to have been the helmet of choice until rather late in the 16th C., rather than the iconic morion.

As these are mid century troops (say 1540-1560) the initial focus was on the sword and buckler men, arquebusiers and crossbowmen. Next the lancers, armoured and unarmoured, and mounted command will be made. If there's interest we may walk these a bit forward and have pikemen made too.

Hope to have them on the store by mid-july -- it's going to be quite a race though!

Curious as to whether these might be suitable as mid 16th C. Portuguese as well ....
