Hi, do commanders affect the units around them or only the unit they are attached to? If they affect more than just one unit, how far does the effect reach?

The Ground Attack and Defence bonuses inly apply to the unit the commander is attached to. They increase the efficiency of units within their range. Range and efficiency are the same numbers as the commander's Leadership.

Hi in Vanilla and GSv1.06 have a range of 8. In the up and coming v2.00 the range is their leadership value minus 2.

Also in v2.00 the cost for the leader are lower.

In GS 2.0 what's the situation regarding the radius of leaders overlapping, is an average taken (i.e similar current GS 1.07) or is the higher leadership rating used? Thanks

Great, makes sense in most cases

Especially now that we have low cost leaders that have command ranges of 0 (i.e., only the unit it's deployed to) and 1. Some of these leaders cost as little as 5 PPs. So now you can have a corps leader with a 0 command range (i.e., a leadership of 2) and a +1 attack (e.g., McNaughton) for the Brits who cost 20 PP's. The corps that McNaughton is attached to could gain effectiveness from a higher quality leader (e.g., Montgomery at a 7) and benefit from the +1 attack from McNaughton. Also, leaders are only "wounded" if the corps it's attached to is completely destroyed. A retreat no longer was cause a leader to be wounded.

Building and employing leaders is now more of a challenge. I employ 5 level leaders for my air groups. Below is an example from a recent game of the number of leaders I had employed as the axis. The leaders employed and where they were assigned are highlighted in the list of all leaders available. I've also provided details for the full set of leaders and their attributes.
