I wonder, how are we supposed to capture the objective on the island in the first scenario. Paratroopers?
Anyhow, I got absolutely raped since there is no real counter to all the massive airpower in that one.
I'd like to see someone else solve it for a good victory.

Impossible: not enough turns.
I put 50.000 prestige and have my units at 500 experience (those I purchase).
With my small army I defeated the Allies except in Sicily.
You just have to clear the other opponent on the island thus allowing to transfer your units by ship (naval transport).
5 He 177 will destroy all the Allied navy.
But without cheating I fear this scenario cannot be won.

Ok, that's two of us now with the impossible vote.
The funny thing is, that's just the FIRST scenario in the campaign even, haha. I was wondering how did I get so terrible at this series all of a sudden.
I had even tried to think of a way to sink some of the weak navy with air, but again Axis air are just going to get raped in that area as well.

Hmm, I took another look at it just now to see if I could change a doctrine to make things more manageble.
Impossible!
You only start with 2 fighters, and have very limited prestige to start out with. While the AI not only has a billion ships, but a massive airforce. What makes their airforce even more deadly is the allies have P-47's which I mentioned elsewhere, the axis have nothing that beats those.
The allies get first-turn initiative, and you lose one fighter before you can do anything leaving you with just 1 FuckWulf which is going to get raped by the P-47's. And then you just get pummeld to death from there. GG
I'm wondering, does anyone even know of an exploit to take advantage of around here to at least stabalize the scenario (please no cheat-modes).

Damn, gave it another go tonight. Lost all my land units AGAIN.
I'll try something a little different tomorrow.

Impossible difficulty setting?

Just double-checked. Nope, it's on NORMAL setting.
I'll spin off a few turns again with another plan now, and see how things go.

Well I managed better... (Helps to know what is going to happen when and where exactly).
Finished until the end with units still surviving. However I couldn't even keep ownership of a single island, never mind win the damn scenario.

Alright, I have to abandon this entire campaign I think.
The next scenario gives you almost no prestige, and since you have almost no army if you happen to make it that far, the rest is explanatory.

I was intrigued by the comments on the 1943 west scenario, so I fired it up just to see what all the fuss was about. And just from observing the first turn, I have to say I agree with obsolete... this seems to be an impossible situation to survive as the Axis player. I don't know if the scenario selection is finalized at this point, but perhaps the opening scenario could be broken into two parts, i.e., Sicily first and then Italy itself. IIRC this was how the campaign was approached in PG1. In any case, this looks to be an extremely difficult start to the '43 campaign...

I did 2 or 3 turns on easy, got ravaged, and gave up. Not sure how well I could do even with cheats. This scenario is NOT good for your morale. I guess the dilema is trying to balance gameplay with historical accuracy. Mayhaps you could make easy mode a little
'easier'?

Historically the Germans rushed several divisions into Italy as the Allied forces were landing. Perhaps to give the German player a better chance in this scenario, a prestige "bonus" could be given on a set turn in the middle of the scenario to help the player replenish their forces and add new units? Or perhaps even the appearance of several reinforcement units that arrive later in the scenario?

Well, I just finished this campaign in the new version (East side though). I must say, the IS-2 was my favourite tank in PG2. I don't remember the difference in the original e-file, but it always felt to me that the IS-2 was the top dog in that game. But so far, Panzer Corps seems to have restored my faith in the Kings again...
Now.. I'll be off try to the WEST campaign and check out the differences. The AAs though still seem quite underpowered, to the point of almost useless.

Yea the AA gun rebalance hasn't taken affect yet, they're still pretty near useless at this time.

Glad to hear that's being addressed, so far that's been one of the biggest flaws in PzC.

Grrr. Well I found the West scenario easier this version, though still ended up with a loss...

Victory triggers have not been configured properly, they've only recently been implemented.
Every current scenario exists only in a binary state. Take all VH to win, not have 1 or more VH and lose.
Once this is adjusted, and with some scenario balancing, Italy should be win-able, even if it's only a marginal victory.

Alright, I've played this West campaign up until the last stand at Berlin. I'll try and continue it later on this evening to finish. I'm not worried, I have a ton of Kings and a lot of 15 strength bombers, etc.

Well that wasn't too hard. Decisive victory. Though I really took advantage of the AI not giving itself retreat room. I totally raped it using age old Hannibal tactics.
I used to always think the Maus was too ugly (and slow) of a unit to be much interesting, however I'm starting to like it. I just wish I had the option available to purchase one in this campaign.

1943 Campaign (West), dificulty: NORMAL
I do not like the AI mission in Italy, where the computer after the occupation began to buy the northern part of the same Churchill tanks, which are cheap and strong. On the contrary, I just bought too Elefant, who is in his power below cost. The Final Battle just beat the two types without any strategy. Tiger and Panther tanks were useless against the odds in bulk Churchill. Where to buy, where they bought or made so many in southern Italy? A little logic would not mind. For example, a limited number of tank-type mission. Max 5 Churchill simultaneously in Italy, 8 Tigre, or give them a price to be rare in the fighting and not to send tens in a row (the tank spam) ..
At least in missions where the attacking computer, and obtains the prestige of the occupied city when he has a cheap tanks.
