First Impressions

Reminds me very much of Panzer General. The terrain graphcis could be improved with some elevation delineation. Every map seems to be perfectly flat and rather bland. I checked out the pictures on the back of my Panzer General II game box and noted that there are mountains, trees, orchards, and definite elevation changes etc. although not sure if the scale of Panzer Corps is the same. I would also prefer the towns and cities to be a little more irregular. Every one is round and kind of looks like what a settlement on the moon would be like. I assume that the finished product will have names that you can view for cities and other geographic features? The graphics look too polished and didn't give me a WW II feel, they are actually too "pretty".

The game strikes me as an entry level wargame. I like the vehicle icon for infantry and artillery when they move greater distances. I assume that they are more vulnerable in this mode. I would like to see an option to view the range of artillery. The infantry movement sound is obviously from Commander Europe at War. As is the two numbers showing the probable losses for the attacker and defender. Easy to see right away that armour attacking in to a city is not a good idea. I can't remember if fighters could attack bombers in any of the Panzer General games but I like that option in this game.

Anyway, it appears that this would be a fun "beer and pretzels" game. I hope that it will have the option to PBEM, otherwise I would not be interested in purchasing it. Will try some more scenarios and report back with additional comments.

Okay my mistake, it does display the name of the city or river when you move your cursor over it. I was expecting it to appear on the map but it appears in one of the information boxes on the right but in quite small font. I think my comment about the blandness of the maps and their lack of elevation is illustrated by the Italy scenario. Italy never looked so flat! Similarily the Ardennes map certainly does not give any impression that the attack was through thick forests. However, it might be the scale of the game, maybe its more on a operational level.
