Hello all,
Just discovered in another message that AoW allows to play an ikko ikki army

) .
I 've always loved Japanese armies AND mass units, soooo that sounds like the
perfect time to start building an ikko ikki army^^.
I would need some info concerning the amount of infantry i would need to get in order
to play a standard size army(knowing that i would rather go for the maximum amount of possible
units rather than fewer but better ones^^). Do they get any cav that i would need to buy too?
Hope that my request is not against any kind of code of conduct or anything:p.
p.s: sorry for the possible broken English... French here^^.

No army list for these has yet been developed. Any comments about them at the moment should be considered speculative at best.
Could be worth asking again in a few weeks time - if only to remind the list writers

Mmmm, not sure here. DBX has Ikko Ikki in the Samurai lists- treat them as Horde. Not sure if list designers in AoW will treat them as anything more substantial...?

I suspect that the DBM Later Samurai list which includes the Ikko Ikki is a bit broken just like the Early Samurai one is so it is quite possible, likely even, that the AoW Ikko Ikki will be different from DBM Hordes.

Treat the comments I made as a way of getting across the variety of troop types possible more than a promise of an Ikko-Ikki list (although I have done a draft)....and Nik hinted.
The Ikko-Ikki was a regilious Bhudist movement that captured the imagination of the nation and led to a large rebelion that was eventually ruthlesslessly crushed by Oba Nobunaga in the late 1500s. They can be interestingly represented in AOW as they in fact had a number of fanatical warrior monks and then the mass population with the belief that to die in battle was an honour (which is actually a bit different from a samurai who wants to die serving his lord). All had some martial training - bit like their early morning aerobics. They also had quite a lot of arquebusiers. The main stronghold was competely wiped out by Nobunaga who developed and almost fanatical hatred of them.
They no more fought along side the samurai than Spartacus did along side the Romans so need to be a separate list.
They are however a bit late for ancient warfare and may therefore end up an early rennaissance list one day....and that's not a promise of some imminent AOW renaissance rules either!

They will be rather nice. I actually have the ikko-ikki myself. If won't stop me trying them out for fun though - there just won't be an official list in time period I suspect.
Cheers

Any further word on these? Will they be included in the upcoming Asian book since they originated in the 1490's?
They have been submitted to Wargames Factory as a 15mm submission:
