Overlord Scenario

Very... peculiar design.

I noticed if the Allied player doesn't capture Caen on June 6th (lol WUT?) OR the German player manages to recapture it on the first turn, the Allies instantly lose. I suspect this is a residual side affect from how the game currently handles declaring victory, namely "If All VH = German Control, German = win at end of round"

Also, the Allied player starting with 0 friendly airfields has a very annoying affect on their aircraft: they all appear to be in danger of running of out fuel, their entire movement range is blanketed red. Same with Germany in USA scenario.

Old Caen: 2 Hexes from the shore falls on June 6th.

New possibility for Caen with Orne River: This is more like the obstacle that contained Montgomery until July.
Also added cities of Bayeux and Benouville.

My main focus was 'get Caen away from the shoreline'
Realism took second seat to that.

This looks to me as a wish to have more detailed D-Day. Correct?

Not necessarily 'more detailed', perhaps more... 'significant'.
Currently on the Overlord map, Caen is a joke and any resistance to the Allied invasion doesn't really happen anywhere near the beaches.

Heh yea... I tried to make it fit, but it's not perfect
My main focus was 'get Caen away from the shoreline'
Realism took second seat to that, sorry
I also removed all roads around Caen
To make it even more of a choke
Like that north road and rail line is gone
Besides, if you want to talk realism and history. Old Caen falls June 6th. That will generate more QQ than any 'geographical anomalies' in my opinion
Well the AI will get Bayeux for free
I think cherbourg may have to be weakened
Or a paratrooper put there to prevent purchasing
And St Lo should fall too
That's a good foothold for the AI

Not sure if the issue is up for voting, but if it were, I like Kerensky's modified map. :)

I would NOT want a significantly geographically skewed map.

IMO either refocus the map to just Normandy (or the British Beaches) on a larger scale, or change the focus of the scenario to the Cobra/Totalize/Tractable breakout offensives after Caen has already fallen.
