Does gates of troy have the same issue as Spartan

regarding the d3drm.dll issue for windows 7? In any event I couldn't resolve it per the thread dealing with this issue's instructions . If not they appear similar and I was just going to take spartan back and swap it out for this title instead. I have to admit that this has been enormously frustrating, but as a huge ancient greece and turn based strategy honk i am willing to put out just a little bit more effort.

Gates of Troy is an addon for Spartan, and will not run without it. I have answered your other thread regarding your issues getting it to run.

Ehm, you're wrong Pip
Gates of Troy is a standalone expansion. If you want to be able to play the scenarios from Spartan, then you need the original game. The addon has new and different scenarios.

Doh! You're right! Been a while since we shipped it.
Yes - it will run standalone, but does mesh with an installed version of Spartan to allow you to play Spartan with any of the additions that Troy had.
What a mistake to make!

So, I tried the other solutions you suggested...........still don't work lol so, um if this is a stand alone expansion will it run without having to add files and what not on 7? Not that I am unwilling to do that, just that it didn't work this time and I'd hate to buy ANOTHER game, no matter how cool the box is, that doesn't work. L:)

If you can't get Spartan to work, Troy almost certainly won't either.
We'll keep trying with Spartan though...
