Need for speed

Just an idle thought to speed the game up – a perceived flaw which has been commented on in a number of forums.

Today I helped out in a demo game of 25mm FOGR. I haven’t played the rules before and certainly haven’t read them but it seemed to me that they were using a scale of 1 MU = 4cm (or thereabouts).

I found the game ran much quicker using this measurement and wonder if perhaps it could be used in 15mm FOG games. It would certainly allow HF and such to get around the board a bit quicker than currently (which can only be all to the good as far as I can see).

I admit I’m not sure whether this would unbalance the terrain size and deployment rules. If this was found to be the case however this could be easily solved by developing a new unit (lets call it the deployment unit or DU) where 1 DU = 2.5 cm. (1 inch). The DU would be used for setup distances and terrain size (which would therefore remain the same as now) whilst the MU would be used for movement and shooting ranges and such once the game was underway.

cheers
