Units Moving Onto Hills Spotted By Lower Units - Question

Recently I've noticed that some units moving up onto hills or moving along the hill are spotted (and shot at) by enemy units not on hills. I'm pretty sure, in some cases certain, that there are no enemy lurking around on the hill.

Have I missed a rule change? Anyone else seen this?

As I recall, you have to move onto a hill undetected (no LOS to your unit by the enemy), then wait until the next turn to be hidden.

That sounds about right. I was struggling with this a while ago as, once enemy contact was made, I didn't have too many problems getting other units up hills and remaining hidden in the Bulge and Normandy maps but found it very hard to hide on hills in the more open desert maps.

OK Thanks

Thinking on it a bit more, on one occasion the unit that moved onto the hill would have been seen by an airstrike in that turn.

Units being spotted on hills (again) - horse not dead yet?

I'm still puzzled.

I'm playing D-Day+3 as the Allies.

That big square hill on the German's left (important) was blacked out to all my units.

I moved an infantry unit forward to a forest hex that was not on the hill but could have LOS to it.

Suddenly all the German armour on the hill became visible.

This doesn't seem right based on my understanding of the rules.

We discussed this in an earlier post

I believe that infantry can always see anything next to them. Could that be the cause?

If you can give me the various coordinates then I can check out the possible cause.

How do I find the coordinates?

If you go into the editor you can choose to load up any of the existing missions - then the tooltip will tell you the coordinates of the tile you are over.

The actual file names are different - the one you should look for is British_attack_MP from what I can tell.

OK got it.

In the specific example i mentioned, my infantry moved to the forest at 24,20 and revealed all the units on the square hill (24,43 24,44 24,45......22,43 22,44 2245.

In other games playing the Germans I've been shot up on that hill when I felt I should have been able to ambush.

Thanks
