Field of Glory: Ancient and Medieval Theme Tournament

The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

Players should bring one version of a legal 900 point army from Rise of Rome, Legions Triumphant, or the following lists in Lost Scrolls after 509 BC: Early Republican Roman, Etruscan League, Italian Hill Tribes, Latin, Samnite, Campanian, and Apullian Lucanian or Bruttian. The first round pairings will be Roman v. non-Roman, based on dates; later rounds will be paired by points. In order to ensure that Rome is well enough represented the GM will be seeking volunteers to run Roman armies; volunteers will be announced on-line as they come in. There will be a prize for the best Roman and best non-Roman players.

The tournament will be run in 15mm for sure, and in 25mm as well if sufficient players show up. 25mm players are encouraged to bring a 15mm army as backup, and to contact the GM to express interest.

Round 1: 9:00 – 1:00
Round 2: 2:30 – 6:30
Round 3: 7:00 – 11:00

Players with questions are encouraged to contact the GM, Marc Crotteau, at juvenileshark@yahoo.com.

900 points for the 25mm also? Probably shouldn't be. I would think that 25mm should stay at 800.

Oops, good point. I failed to consider the 25mm point level. 800 does seem better; is there any discussion from the peanut gallery?

Here are the results from Historicon. I am sorry I am late posting them; such is the price of having a real job to pay for my doll-playing habits. I swear that if I were independently wealthy the results would be posted right away.

Anyway, well done to Dan H for pipping Matt at the post. Also, well done to the lads from New England, who took two of the top four spots. I will also--modestly of course--say well done to me, for proving conclusively that armored knights can not fight heavily armored knights. I know that was a question that everyone wanted answered.

Well done to Fletch for winning. I gave Doug Anderson the advantage over Phallen due to a better hea to head result. Numbers were down this year all throughout Historicon, as far as I could tell, but especially in 25mm FoG. A number of the usual suspects failed to appear.

Everyone take note of what we all knew to be true, deep down inside: that Rome went soft after the Republic turned into the Empire. 8) We were all very pleased when Damian Ranasinghe showed up to talk about Donnington Miniatures and show off some examples. Better still, he was brow-beaten into borrowing an army and joining the tournament to make an even number. Now that's customer service!

Marc are you going to be submitting the scores to Slitherine for their Wotan's Hall and Rankings Sites?

Are kidding? Did you see where he placed in the Open?

Seriously Marc, you really should post the scores to the rankings before you leave for the team tournament. Best to keep all of those ELO points you lost to New England safely on this side of the Atlantic rather than risk them in Lisbon. We promise to keep them safe until you get back.
