I am having trouble downloading the beta. Once I start the download from the link, hit OPEN on the File Download box, the game looks like it is transferring files (flying paper graphic), but nothing is moving over. What step (?) am I missing?

You click the link and select Save, then specify somewhere to save it like the desktop. Then the file will download. Its a very basic file transfer so if you can download any files it should just work!
