Hello All!

A lot of people here on the forum suggested to add an intermission screen to the game. Let us discuss what features this screen should have, besides the actual unit list? What commands will be useful there, what information shall it show? Any ideas are welcome.

Buy multiple units at at time.
Sell core units back for prestige (At a prestige loss).
Over-strength.
Under-strength to get back prestige (At a prestige loss though, so a unit that costs 100 to overstrength once will net you 90 for 1 understrength)
View individual unit details, such as stats, kills, medals, leader stats, et cetera.
Pre-view next campaign scenario, possibly including where deployment zones are, but omitting all enemy positions, even if fog is set to off.
Save
Load
Main Menu
Upgrade
Somewhere to view the date, in-game date, probably using the date of the first day of the upcoming scenario.

That's off the top of my head.

Thanks! Some comments.

This is more a request for Purchase screen, I guess.

I'm not a big fan of this approach of unit management. After you request 20 Tiger IIs and get them delivered, I doubt you can disassemble them and get 20 Panthers instead (assuming Panther is cheaper than Tiger II) all that easily. That is the reason why the game does not allow selling units back for money as of now.

I guess, this basically means invoke unit info popup from intermission screen? I doubt we'll have enough space to embed all unit info inside intermission screen itself...

I thought about making this screen a part of main UI, available on the deployment turn (and perhaps on any other turn as well). Then you can switch back and forth between the map and unit management at will, and you can easily access game's system menu, so no need to duplicate its functionality.

Another possibility to keep game fresh is to allow commander personality to be picked.

Hard-Charger: The Patton/Chesty Puller type. Has less turns to win, gets more prestige and possibly an affect on combat factors.

Aggressive: Standard PzCps

Methodical: US Army doctrine, Bradley or Monty type. Gets less prestige, more turns and perhaps a negative on attack strength, bonus on defense.

Prestige =/= industrial production however. You're not remanufacting those Tiger IIs, you're returning them to the high command reserve and telling them that you can accomplish your mission with fewer resources, increasing your estime in their eyes and making them more willing to grant future requests like a battalion worth of Panthers.

Indeed. I tend to think of prestige more as resources, because I expect that we'll have to rename prestige to resources or something. The reason is, it is natural to get more prestige for more brilliant victories, but to balance the game right we may need to do just the opposite thing: give more money for defeat and less for decisive victory...

What would be the best way to implment group operations (mass replacements, mass upgrades)?
- Allow to select multiple units in the list, and then click a button to apply the operation.
- Switch to a group operation mode, and then click all units you need to apply this operation to.
- Any other method?

Although I can see why some people would want to use the feature, I don't think I'd use the mass replacements/mass upgrades/mass overstrength feature often as it would be a prestige sink and you could quickly end up improving units you don't want to improve. For example, some "upgrades" (newer units) are worse than what you currently have, and you could end up upgrading all of the infantry to Pioniere, for example.

A screen with the features Pacific General had would make me happy enough.

Yeah, the more I think about this, the more I find that this will be better. You can select the units and see the costs of group operations updated on the fly. This will allow the player to experiment a little bit and determine an optimal set of units he wants to apply an operation to, and only then actually apply it.

Do you mean this screen:
The HQ/overview screen combined with that. Anything that layers your units like unit types are layered in the purchase/upgrade screen, so you can quickly see the state your units are in and upgrade or otherwise change them would be good enough, I'd say.

I like the idea of the screen similar to what the Pacificgeneral screenshot shows. I know I would use it if nothing more to situate myself.
